310mm from the bulkhead seems to be miles out! 290mm might be closer.
I'd email Safari themselves, only they don't publish an email address.

i actually bypassed it and ran a cable straight to the solonoid of the starter so it by passed the spider imobiliser,do this before it goes into this terminal if you are bypassing it then run a switched live feed to the injector pump stop solonoid as this also gets bypassed if the immobiliser is kicked in
What about the glow plugs, are they switched through the immobiliser or not?
We've got a slightly temperamental immobiliser here that occasionally needs to be enabled and disabled with the plipper in order to start.

That's the ABS version of the snorkel you've got there
Non-ABS http://www.safarisnorkel.com/snorkel/ss350hf/ss350hf.htm

basically if you look on the n/s inner wing you will see a big round pressing mark, that's roughly where you need to cut the inner hole. On 200 tdi's that's where the air intake is...
And on 300TDIs that's obstructed by the airbox, so the hole must go a good bit further back.

Auto Box?
If so it's transmission oil temperature warning.

That is what I think too. But to me a firewall is a what goes between out internal network and the big bad internet

The 300TDi instructions say for the inner wing hole location- "To mark the inside hole position, measure down from the inner guard lip 72mm and forward from the firewall 310mm. Re-check these measurements several times until the positions intersect in the same place."
What exactly to they mean by the inner guard lip and the firewall? A diagram would have been so much clearer!

The more I read the more confused I get!
Out there on the net there's talk about having to adjust the EDC pump timing when removing EGR.
Is there any clear information anywhere at all?
Niamh
-
So you left the EGR valve in place then?

You might not have damaged the hub, but dying wheel bearings frequently do.

its an 'M' reg 300tdi disco... what stub axle will it need from paddocks?
ABS or non-ABS?
You'll need a stub axle, needle bearing, oil seal, thrust washer & gasket.
Plus of course hub, wheerl bearings etc. If you've been careful you should just be able to unbolt the existing brake disc and use that.

You'd hear a dead CV joint
Niamh

Well if the road wheels aren't rolling normally then all bets are off!
Niamh
-
What does one do, just pull and plug the vacuum pipe from the valve?
It won't upset the EDC at all?
Niamh
-
CVs are unlikely.
Best thing is as you say to isolate the location of the problem, up on a pair of axle stands and disconnect the ball joints starting with the drag link so you can check components through.
Niamh
-
Is there full steering box movement both ways or a mis-set lock stop?
Bent drag link or track rod?
Something fouling one of the swivels?
What was going on when it happened?

When cutting the welded bearing out, lado didn't realise he was also cutting in to the axle.
That's only the stub axle though, you don't need to replace the entire front axle!
Niamh
-
We have resorted to buying a new axle as when we finally got it out the hub was not looking good/reusable.
Why not just replace the hub & stub axle?
Niamh
-
So buying a second hand front axle that is in known good condition is the cheapest and most logical way to go!
Why not just buy a new stub axle and hub?

Opppps looks like im wrong!!!!!!!!!
Well it's how I did mine before this week's MoT
Though how one is actually supposed to get fingers on that nut to turn it is a mistery! Thank god for long pliers.

Everything looks in reasonable nick so fingers crossed.
I'll get the local hydraulic lads to test the Danfoss motor for me before reassembly though.

Shame
Anyone ever stripped and serviced a winch?
Only the nylon bearing on this one seems very tight, I can barely turn the drum by hand and wonder if that's right?

I can't get through to PG winches by email fax or phone.
Are they still in business? Is so any one got up-to-date contact details?
I'm looking for some spares for a Runva NHW-10000 that we found at the back of a shed, god knows what it came off as it has 24V control gear!

I don't know to be honest, I did mine 3 or 4 years ago and I can't remember which flange I got. but I had to make a spacer for it all to work.
OK seems that the spacer 539745 isn't in the kit.

Could be, in which case the stated 310mm is wrong.
