  1. Shame, cannot open that as I do not do Facebook Regards Stephen
  2. My spindle bore is 34mm, mog halfshaft minor diameter is 35mm On nights so have brought halfshaft in to see if it will go in the lathe chuck at work If you do machine the splines off finished diameter needs to be 31.4mm Regards Stephen
  3. Your not the only one with tin worm pain Old friend just called to see me and told me his 2011 Toyota hilux is getting scrapped, he was lucky his steering failed when he was going dead slow, on investigation mounting points on vehicle had rotted away and allowed steering rack to drop, while looking for the problem he also found most of the chassis steel hidden by the belly plate had rotted away, he is not a happy bunny... Regards Stephen
  4. Oh dear !!!!!! That's not going to fit.... Oh well looks like mill is going to be a lathe again, the good news is once the existing splines are removed +1mm it will slide through so I can turn it down to spline major diameter Set mog shaft up in 4 jaw very roughly just to see if spline cutter cuts into halfshaft material ok It does pleasantly surprised how easy it cut, thinking back to when I modified my mog diff pinion, the halfshaft material seems a lot easier to machine, which is good because I had to use a tungsten tipped tool for the pinion and it still took nearly an hour per spline thats all I had time for today regards Stephen
  5. This is just a practice attempt so no heat treat on this, just scrap now Heat treating on the Mog Half shaft remains to be seen, if they are anything like the diff pinion I did in my mog 404 axles thread then they may not need heat treating, however, ultimately that will be up to @dangerous doug I'm just trying to help out with the machining Regards Stephen
  6. I see Not overly worried, I've already been thinking of making an extended bed to fasten to mill bed and then attatch dividing head and tail stock Regards Stephen
  7. Don't know....why ? Not cutting them, no way...... I've said this before....every forum has a comedian.....lol Regards Stephen
  8. Short shaft fits ok, might have to get creative for the long shaft.... regards Stephen
  9. The good news is I do not need to make an adaptor, my new dividing head comes with outside jaws and these hold the 4 jaw chuck comfortably regards Stephen
  10. Looking good Winch bumper a la Ben...????? Hope to see it in the flesh one day Regards Stephen
  11. So second blank cut Stop set so alignment looking better completed this one is a knock in fit so could probably do with another 0.2mm removed to feel the same as an original shaft, but im very very happy with it alongside a proper one Looks good to me....? So once I'm off nights I will see about getting 4 jaw to fit indexer then machine mog shaft and have a go on a considerably harder said shaft Regards Stephen
  12. About 30 minutes, took longer to set up with a dti Regards A smug shed dweller....lol
  13. WOW, I got a real treat today My neighbours son works for a Landrover dealership he came to see his dad in this today HSE 130 300 ? Asked to have a look at it and he handed me the keys and told me to take it up the road First off it's massive, however it goes like s%%t off a stick, quiet info screen very clear, cabin spacious... Damn I wish I had the 90k to buy one....really I was very impressed at how good it was Regards Stephen
  14. So had a wee bit play today with Previously made spline blank First set up then cutting, cuts are different lengths as I did not set up stop Best of all it fits fit is a bit slack as i cut too deep, however im very happy with the result, will do another blank test with depth and stop set then look to have a go on a mog shaft regards Stephen
  15. Wow...I'm seriously impressed Thank you so much, if I can return the favour please let me know Regards Stephen

  20. Unfortunately yes Blank test run will be easy enough However dividing head is 3 jaw Mog front shafts have a tee end This will need a 4 jaw chuck I have an old one I got off a handmade wood lathe donkeys ago Adaptor will need to be made so it fits into 3 jaw Then I have to make some spacers to get involute cutter to fit an R8 tool piece So I guess " now we wait" is about right...lol Regards Stephen
