Ok, I will answer my own topic, got the pump apart.
If you are just replacing the big O ring which seals the cover, the only thing that needs to be done is remover the big nut/outlet pipe, when the pump is out, together with the pressure relief valve and spring which sits underneath. The case can then be prized, knocked, eased off, depending how much force is needed, mine was leaking around this big O ring partly because of creeping rust which has been cleaned up and the seal put back in with O ring grease to hopefully prevent future corrosion.
If you need to replace the seal and bearing the pulley flange will need to be pulled off, which is very tight, then the internal pump needs to be dismantled and the shaft pushed out to get at the bearing, which is held in with a circlip and the oil seal.
Hope this might be of help to someone else, had I known this before I started, the job would have been much quicker. I wouldn't have taken the pulley flange off, which then entailed pulling the pump apart so I could press the pulley flange back on as the bearing and seal were ok.
