  1. Another question, will one shot swivel grease work in the spur gearbox? G
  2. Hi western, Thanks for the reply, pity they closed! yes i have been on the first four site, but no brushes listed. I am ordering some gaskets and other bits, will try asking maybe they know. Grem
  3. Hi All I am at the moment refurbing a Husky winch. While its apart i thought it might be a good idea to fit new brushes to the motor. Now i have the parts manual and been trough the parts suppliers and no one seems to list the brushes separately (unlike other makes). Does anyone know if you can find replacements? or have the specs (lenght) of what they should be as new? Motor used to work when tested, not under load, loads and loads of black dust inside (brushes?) no corrosion or water ingress damage. Tips and advise welcome. Regards Grem
  4. Install time, not much to say, see below
  5. Yes trying to keep it the same height, that why i will probably reset the camber. I did them in the past myself, but its a lot of work. This time i have a spare set of leaves which i will reset after i install the winch and see where it sits, and how it rides. Cause if it hits the bumps all the time it might be too soft and i will than probably add a leaf. No paras for me in front, i had them, broke them, and hated them, so its standard springs up front. Grem
  6. Further to my question, how does everyone measure the free camber on the springs? Across the Middle of the spring eye bushes to the spring arch (center bolt)? Grem
  7. No, off the shelve items i was told, they were as old stock. Grem
  8. Understood, will reset my spare set of springs anyway to +1" as i have longer shocks in front. They will then settle down to original height with the weight. Grem
  9. It should work. Well i went the other way and uprated my Stage 1 axle to 24 spline, via maxidrive shafts, plus a 4 pin macnamara center. Grem
  10. Dear All I am soon to fit a winch on the front of my Series 3, its going to be a husky with a synth rope. I run a tdi200 just to get an idea. What have you all done to the springs? uprated? or reset? added a leaf maybe? I have a set which i might get reset with some more free camber than specified in the green bible. Let me know Grem
  11. Well you could come up with something, but that will add complexity. This is nice and simple.
  12. Thanks, had enough of social media idiots..........
  13. Hi All Been a long time since i posted anything useful here. So after many many years of searching high and low i have finally managed to lay my hands on a used specimen of Mr Macnamara's manual difflock. The item in question is as seen in this leaflet of many years ago. The axle it sat in was a mess to be honest, so i stripped it down and started to seek replacement bearings and seals. It also emerged that my locking shaft was junk. So after some emails to Mr Macnamara i managed to source a new shaft, plus other bits and bobs to start my install. I also had to modify a coiler hub since i have a disc brake conversion at the rear. Thats it for now, next pics will be of the install i hope. Gremlin
  14. Rear discs via lr parts on a series salisbury for reference................ Been away too long from here................... Grem
  15. Old fire extinguisher worked for me, mounted under the rear tub just behind the gearbox over the rear propshaft G
  16. Dear All I have set my eyes on a winch, after lots of opinions i have settled down that a husky will fit my needs. Now, are there other versions besides the red ones EW8? was there ever a silver grey special edition one made? How does it differ from the normal ones? or was it just a paint job? Grem
  17. Rob, just sent you a PM in regards the shafts, as i need a pair! G
  18. Mine too, 110 front hubs + discs on a series Salisbury. G
  19. Good job, but i would try to clock that x brake to a better position, it looks very vulnerable down there! G
  20. Hmm mine too, clears just fine although i found out that the 110 tunnel needed trimming to fit between the bulk head and seatbox. Pic g
  21. Ok here is mine Its a def 200, tdi 200 rad moved into the rad panel, td5 intercooler, battery went in the rear tub, but mine is a 109. Glow system hooked up and functional. Aircleaner is a 200 can but intake is out trough the bonnet up to the snorkle. I wanted to keep the inset front so lots of head scratching went into it, also have a 4 bolt PS system hidden under the intercooler and behind the front panel. Pics
  22. Update The mysterious can with the blue and white wire is a solenoid, what it does id still a mystery! Pics of the modified mount and air intake cans Fitted under seat, right next to the battery, its a tight squeeze but it fit. Next is some paint to the braket and install in the seat box, i still need to work on the air tank and its mount, that will be another post. G
  23. Yes dangerous, as when they break they go flying............................. Funnily enough the sledge hammer method used to hold up the arch better than the press or jack. G
