Some great input guys, lots to think about. Building a complete restoration form the ground up is a great thing to do but for me on top of what is a steep learning curve already it's probably a bridge to far this time round. I'm not planning on getting underway for 10 - 12 months and want to spend that time fitting out the vehicle myself and getting to learn all I can about using and fixing it. It kinda felt that the ROW 300tdi was somewhat on the expensive side so nice to hear that confirmed also even in nice condition it's still an older vehicle and may need work like rubbers, as mentioned, to get it as reliable as possible so will pass on that one. I've driven Puma's and TD5's perhaps I need to try a 300tdi for comparison. I suspect I am leaning towards Puma, more civilized, newer, less wear and tear as a starting point for a base vehicle, good to hear some one say not to be scared by electronics. LHD/RHD plenty of pro's and con's both ways on that one so maybe I'll not stress to much either way. I didn't know that about the deposit for the Carnet so that just highlights the need for a lot more research and also maybe planning some routes, although I do like the idea of travelling where the fancy takes me. Anyway thanks again it's been useful, back to the research.
