  1. most bike shops sell them for a few quid, i've been using them for years, should be easy to find a local one to you,
  2. well folks, after reading your posts i decided to stick with what i know, diesel,, just bought myself a 110csw td T+T 11 months,£2200, got a spare 200 to go in it when i can be bothered, 18mpg would cripple me, i'll stick to listening to other people burning money on our play days, thanks all Bow..
  3. thanks for that, was hoping it would be a bit better, but cant beat the rumble of a V8
  4. i'm in need of a 110 for distance work, limited budget, like always, i know the fuel consumption on diesels,as i've always had them, but whats a 110 V8 like on a run for mpg, they seem to be a good price at the mo,, can any one advise please, all the best, Bow..
  5. Nige, you be looking for a pair of Marigold Industrial Emperors,ME104.. acid, toxic waste, and alleged sharps proof, made from natural rubber latex, as strong as they come, have to use these in acid baths for stripping carbon, take a look on the web for a local supply to you, i'm away for a couple of weeks but if you have no joy in finding a pair let me know and i'll post you a pair , you may want to consider a resperator mask to use at the same time, thats a volatile mix you have, and lung cancer is a bitch, all the best, Bow..
  6. thanks James, i never knew that section existed, looked on the site under warn section, phone call was going to be last resort, winch is totally stripped now, just waiting on my parts then I'll re-build it, thanks,
  7. Yarwell will be open this sunday due to another clud pulling out, thats Sunday 24th April, so if you want to bring the family and play we are open.. the food van will be on site, we hope to see you there, all the best, THE PLAYDAY TEAM..
  8. well after a busy night stripping the winch a bit further i've fond a few more problems with it, the small neadle bearing on the end of the mainshaft is shot, guess at some stage this had an external cap that is long gone, will call gigglepin again in the morning to see if its available, think i might spend a bit of time on the lathe and turn up a retaining cap simular to gigglepins to hold the brake on, cant afford an upgrade yet, thanks Dafydd and Dan, think i may as well do it right while i have it appart, its main purpose will be recovery not competeing so cant see it being over worked, only wanted an 8274 cause i'm a tart, will put my 9.5si on for now until i can get it finished propperly, might take some pics for the forum as i do bits, plenty on pirate, but not on here, thanks all, looks like its time to spend some money .. Thanks all.. Bow..
  9. thanks for the link Mark, finally got myself an 8274, just need to get it up and running, see you at Manby if not before...
  10. thanks Dave, I'll be looking at the gigglepin upgrade next, but money is limited, so will do one part at a time, thanks again for the dimensions..
  11. having trouble finding a cir-clip for the brake on my standard 8274, no one seems to stock them, been to all the useual, devon, gigglepin and so on, i only want a sodding cir-clip, warn will only supply as part of a kit at £75, can any one measure one and give me the figures, then i'll go source a load, finding this is a common problem, so if i can get them i will, and put them out at cost plus postage thanks all, Bow..
  12. 2nd vote for Lancaster, renewal still the same price, agreed value as mine is modded, plus off road cover for shows and events, and green lane cover, and no charge for comutting cover, well happy with thier service over the last 3 years, not the cheapest, but a total package that suits my needs
  13. its called ultraseal, yes we stab a tyre to show you how it works, i use a 6mm bradawl to demonstrate, it does work, been using it for 8years in both my bikes and trucks, and no, never had balancing problems, nuff said by me, grabbing my coat as i leave
  14. take a look round your local scrap yard, fiat/citreon/peugeot/renault all use large bore air pipes on there later vans, all with vairying lengths , and can normally be picked up for a couple of £'s, as they are just waste to a scrap dealer,
  15. just turn the switch facia panel then turn the switch the other way up, if you want the switch to light up when on run a jumper cable from the live out(pin 3) to the side light terminal (pin 8) thats the way i've run mine, i know you loose the instrument light but who wants a dash like a boy racer, glaring back at you on a night drive, hope this is of some use, Bow..
  16. now that also sounds interesting,
  17. hi all, has anyone ever fitted a tomcat rear roof section to a standard defender, any pics floating about, i've done the usual history and google serches, we had a tomcat at one of our playdays last week and i just love the shape, dont want to spend loads of money buying one to find its to much work/would look a pigs ear once fitted, my 90's rear pannel work is looking tired and the tomcat rear is just so sexy on the defender shape, any idea folks, and i know its vanity just want my truck to stand out from the crowd all the best, BOW..
  18. well folks, what an interesting weekend, never thought being in the control seat would be so much hard work, this has been the hardest event i've ever worked on, being dropped in it at the last min has shown me we need to work on a few areas to inprove things, but thats for another day, to answer a few quieries from today, yes i had the top leading teams watched closer than normal, my only reasons being to get my team of marshalls to do some work, instead of just standing in a group and chatting to each other, and so there could be no sniping that any one was cheating, i know teams get annoyed if they think some one else is getting one over on them, but with the limited help we had this weekend i have tried my best to keep all fair, if that has not been enough please advise me on what i could do to inprove, i am passoinate about our sport, and always will be. right onto the scores and placings, 1st Jim Marsden-Chris Abel 2060 2nd Chris Cater -johnathan Harpman 1870 3rd Andrew Woodhouse-Mark Whetton 1800 4th Alex Parpottas - Dom 1715 5th Luke Fogarty-Rob Lovell 1385 6th Philon Parpottas-James 1255 7th Chris Berryman- ? 1240 8th Mat Whittford-Anthony Waterfield 1155 9th Dave Cornwell-P Bowie 930 10th Nick Rowbotham-Lee Marchant 885 11th Michael Ray-Mark Brook 875 12th Pete Whitman-Ady Turner 745 13th Ian Corfield-Mathew Spencer 695 14th Simon Sagar-Robert Stapleton 675 15th John Norton-Craig Byford 650 16th Paul Lambeth-Steve Culty 290 17th Drew Wright-Dave Mc'clean 275 18th Dave Bolton-James Mead 265 NOVICE TOP3 1st Luke Fogarty, 2nd Michael Ray. 3rd Ian Corfield. EXPERT TOP3 1st Jim Marsden, 2nd Chris Cater 3rd Andrew Woodhouse. a tough weekend for many competitors, as the scores show, the temperature and ice on saturday being a major factor, one site thawing out and turning into a complete bog, and Tixover with its 4" thick ice, thanks to all who helped and competed, have fun.. BOW..
  19. i'm sure i could find you a bed in my little council house James, the offer is there mate, let me know and i'll pm you my address Bow..
  20. I'm also looking forward to it,Alex, been a while. paperwork and info pack emailed James, see you there folks Bow..
  21. the stuff you are thinking of is called ULTRASEAL, it can be pink or blue, it works realy well, i ran this in my bikes, cars, caravan, trailers, and now run it in my 90 on 33" 12.50s, its never upset the ballance of the wheels, even at 150mph on my streetfighter, i've sold loads to harley riders who have all travelled around europe and come back year after year to buy more for when they replace tyres, the carp most tyre fitters detest is the spray can stuff, its runny as hell and makes a right mess, i'm not trying to sell you any as i'm no longer in the trade, but it works, i've spent years showing people it works, buy standing there stabbing a tyre with a bradaule, spinning the tyre and showing how it seals, check it out on google, you may find it of use, a tractor weighing 10 tonnes and travelling at 45mph on the road is a fair test, and new tractors come with the stuff.. all the best, Bow..
  22. a shame this event has come to a close, the few i had a chance to visit were good, whats next Neil, and yes James, i'll be at santa's as always, Bow..

  24. Yes, its that time again, Santa's challenge is fast approaching, and places are filling up fast, anyone wanting an information pack and entry form please forward your email, and I'll pass them on, this is a good fun event, a good way to end the year with a giggle, Mr Nick and his group have half filled the entries already, and a few local lads are in, who's up for it, event will be held on the 11th and 12th of December. all the best Bow..
