  1. The one that's on it ain't thin.. Just running it along surface, brand new chisel so nice clean flat edge too.
  2. Have got the sump off my truck and have started to clean it up inside and out, the seal is pretty well on and wondering what the best way of getting it off is. Ive started to use a chisel to get under it and off, but there must be a better way Cheers
  3. Down south. About 2hours drive in a newer car that can do 70 😂
  4. Yeah time I have, getting the truck there, unsure ot will like it ha
  5. Unsure if my old truck will get up that far, and it's not exactly a long way haha might see how well it goes bacl together first haha.. Id definitely not make it to the alps
  6. Where is this? Currently my trucks not on the road haha, carb, manifold, exhaust off, sump pan off 😂 Whats the best way to empty and clean the pan sensibly?
  7. Sounds good, I have the hand throttle installed on my petrol with 'winch throttle' tippex penned onto it 😂
  8. Just need rope. And a new spring on the drive shaft. Its all working though, and I have the holes on my truck as its had one at some stage in its life. One thing I wonder though is if it's engaged will. It juat go, or is it geared so the throttle has to be at a certain point? Im not really familiar with it if im honest. Cheers Adam
  9. So went and saw a mate today and this happened...
  10. Already have the washer and a new sump seal sat waiting.. Just need it off... Flogging spanner might be worth a try
  11. I ended up getting it off without Jacking it up, wheels on full lock right and a little swearing and it came out ha.
  12. Nope ended up going to a mates to help him clean off his series3 chassis and engine ready to roll it into a garage for an overhaul. Just tried again but its solid. Might have to gently tease it with an impact
  13. Someone else said duck egg os a military rebuild colour.
  14. Okay im just weak then hahaha 😂
  15. Looking at doing an oil change and want check if the sump plug is reverse threaded or not? Before I start tightening it in error. Cheers Adam
  16. Got some mr muscle oven cleaner out and soaked the engine then pressure washed the block off. It is duck egg blue then, far from spotless but its better that half an inch of crud and oil on it. Bunged the in and outlets before doing so.
  17. How easy was it to get the front pipe on did you do it with the truck on the ground?
  18. Got a big tub of greese and ive ordered all new fixing kit. The bolts in it are black and battered, no gasket meant carp went everywhere.
  19. Well tonight I took the front exhaust pipe out from under the truck, that was like some kind of crystal maze game. Then decided to take the manifold off as im sure I've seen fumes escaping, well there was no gasket so definitely been escaping, will get one ordered before it all goes back together.
  20. I was under mine this evening. All manor of carp falling onto my face, a few swear words and the exhaust getting so far then getting stuck. Unsure if it goes down then forward pr towards the rear... Haha
  21. Ive just taken my exhaust off my series 2a and tgey were no.13 Didn't seem to be any paste or hint of there being any at any point on mine, there was a gasket on the rear pipe to back box ( called a washer on most sites) and I'll probably wellseal that one. Do you know how to get the front pipe off? Is it up through the engine bay?
  22. Bottom image is the box off but rear pipe still on. The removal of that was a bit of a pig, pipe join sits right next to chasis, and the bolts are older than I am. Rusted solid was an understatement, no thread left when off, as the spun it just smoothed off.. Not got to the front pipe yet thats in engine bay. Should be interesting to do when its sat on the driveway...
  23. This evening got back from work and got the exhaust back box and rear pipe off as I could hear a blow.. Found a small hole in the rear pipe, but looking at it im just going to replace it. Wouldn't be surprised if its original pipe.
  24. So this weekend sW me help a friend strip the front end off his series3. Just the bulkhead and wiring loom left attached. On mine I was able to sort the timing out, set the carb a little better, and i gave the air filter another clean as it seems the first time round I just moved the dirt.. Got underneath to try and move the alternator so the belt is tightened but the bottom bolts are solid.. Unsure if they will budge, cleaned off all the oil under too so I can try and locate where territory marks come from, and found a hole on the rear exhaust pipe section, thinking of replacing front to back now as the hole pipe is looking a bit past it. The shopping list is growing.
  25. Luckily mine wasn't that bad. So just gave it a clean with petrol. The engine is running a little retarded so need to sort timing out at some point soon. And need to tighten the alternator belt
