Hi
Im trying to assamble a 1977 LR 2.24 diesel series 3 and it is going well. Until now!
Yesterday I powered it up and the starter was a bit slow and did not get going.
I connected an extern power and suddenly when I pushed the starter button I’ve got smoke from the short speed cable as it was heating up.
I disconnected it and then the diesel pump stop cable melted.
The starter solinoid was clicking but the starter did not turn.
Today I took of the starter and cleaned it all up and got it spinning and the solinoid to move fine.
Put i back on and it was clicking again but did turn with my brand new (very expensive!) battery.
Anyone got any ideas why the cables Connected to the diesel pump are heating up when I push the starter button?
Hope to hear from you guys!
