  1. I fitted one to my 200tdi. I purchased an aftermarket gauge with sender. Most after market gauges seem to have a 1/8NPT thread on the sender, the thread on the LR pressure switch is 10mmx1mm. So I purchased a T-piece with 10x1 male - 10x1 female with a 1/8NPT female on the side, then simply fitted it all together. This enabled me to fit the gauge and still have the benefit of the warning light too.
  2. Fuel flow isn't directly controled by throttle position, so measuring that alone I wouldn't have thought would be acurate enough for "real time" MPG. I imagine there is a fuel flow transducer measuring the exact fuel flow at a given time, if this is fed into the ecu along with the vehicle's speed it could output an acurate MPG figure.
  3. The hole being refurred to can be seen in the picture at the top of this thread http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=3945 And a demonstration picture of the proper tool in action can be seen near the top of this thread http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=14285
  4. I tee'd mine in on the pipe that connects to the injector pump.
  5. I always try to go to this show as its so local to me but I can't make it this year as I'm heading to Croyde for a spot of surfing this weekend!
  6. Might be worth removing the circlip on the end of the half shaft and try to remove the drive flange without trying to withdraw the half shaft at the same time.
  7. Thanks for your input everyone. Thanks for the link. I think I'll give them a try next time, site looks easy to use.
  8. I might call paddocks back and see if I get a different person on the phone and see what their story is. If I had ordered the non OE seals I wonder what would have turned up then? Indeed its the "Corresponging to" bit that concerns me. The seal itself doesn't appear to have a manufacturer on it. It has a part number and "This way to stub axle" etc.
  9. Have just ordered a few more bits from Paddocks including a couple of hub oil seals. I paid extra for OE seals and was dissapointed when they turned up in a Britpart bag. I called paddocks and they tell me that they are genuine parts, they claim that Britpart buy them in bulk, bag them up and supply them to paddocks. She said you know if its a genuine part if the part number ends in G. On the bag it says "BRITPART - Corresponding to FTC 4785G" My question to you guys is do I actually have a genuine part or a britpart equivilent?
  10. We tow boats and boat trailers around at work using either big 4x4's or small vans which creates another complication. If we have a empty trailer weighing 500kgs but plated at 2000kgs a cat B licenced driver could not tow this with the 4x4 because the plated weight of trailer plus vehicle is over 3500kgs, they could also not tow it with the van because the plated weight of the trailer is greater than that of the van. If that driver has a B+E license it is no longer the plated weight that is considered but the actual weight you are towing. So a B+E driver can tow the empty trailer with either the 2200kgs 4x4 or the 1000kgs van. If the trailer is laden it can only be pulled by the 4x4.
  11. Thanks for your replies. I've never been keen on britpart stuff and it sounds like I'm not alone there. I suspect my current starter is repairable anyway. It has been submurged in muddy water many times which I'm sure hasn't helped. I think I'll take it off and see what state it is in. It may just need some new brushes and a clean up.
  12. I've been having trouble with my starter motor on my 200tdi and it has finally given up completely. I saw paddocks were offering a new one (ERR5009N) at £80 + VAT, I phoned them up and the chap confirmed that it was a brand new bosch unit so I went ahead and placed the order. It turned up today and the one they have sent is a britpart unit! I called them today and they said I had been misinformed, they can do a bosch one instead if I want at £150. So do I fit the britpart unit or send it back? I don't really want to spend £150 on a starter motor, what would you recommend? I guess they will probably charge me postage to send the thing back too. I know paddocks are cheap but every time I order they always seem to get something wrong.
  13. Yes the land cruiser incident was classic. That step was badly cut away by the end of sunday, it was on the limit of the defenders approach angle. More trade stands would have been nice but we had fun on the off road course. Indeed some of the corners were a bit tight in the 110.
  14. I'll be going on the Sunday, especially as its right on the doorstep!
  15. Thanks for the info, well thats re-assuring to know that its another of those things thats just "normal" on land rovers.
  16. My 110 has always had quite a lot of play in the transmission. When changing a rear wheel bearing I noticed what I though was a lot of play between the drive flange and the half shaft so I took the oppertunity to replace both parts on either side. The new half shafts and drive flanges arrived and were a tight fit together with no play at all. I noticed an improvement in the trasmission when driving it afterwards. I have now noticed a little play in the other wheel bearing so thought I would inspect this before the MOT. After taking the half shaft out I noticed that there is now a simila amount of play between the drive flange and half shaft again. How much play would you expect to see here? I have only done about 2,000 miles since replacing these parts.
  17. 1991 CSW110 175K, thought this was quite a high mileage but looks like there is plenty of life left in her going by some of the other figures mentioned.
  18. You can get mounts/surrounds for the switches which may allow them to be mounted to thicker materials? See http://www.mudstuff.co.uk/Carlingswitches.html
  19. A lot of the ridgeway is unfortunately closed all the time now. However the sections which still have some vehicle access can be found.
  20. I'm in Cowley, not a lot round here. Went and did a section of the ridgeway from Streatley before the winter TRO and a few byways near there. Noticed the OS map looked quite good near Lamborne, must try to get out there and explore the area.
  21. I too end up changing radio stations occationaly when selecting 1st and 3rd, I have my radio in the middle of the three slots on the MUD console. I've sort of got used to it but I will look for the adjustment as suggested, a bit more clearence would be nice.
  22. It could possibly have be an ex-army vehicle as it wouldn't have been registered with the DVLA until it left the army.
  23. Thanks for the info, I've used DLS Landrover spares before, I'll give them a try.
  24. Have a look at http://www.dsa.gov.uk/Documents/practical_...%2007%20DT1.pdf I don't have the one I used and believe this is the repacement which seems to cover the LGV and PSV tests too.
  25. I also have wiper problems. The park switch has definitly gone, didn't realise you could get one separately, anyone know where from? My sweep pattern is also unusual, the passenger side starts moving before the drivers side so the wipers sort of chase each other across the screen and I too don't get a full sweep. I thought the rack or linkage from the motor to the wipers is probably badly worn. The 110 has done 173K so its probably seen a lot of rain in its time!
