As on most I'm sure the transfer box leaks quite a bit of oil. Awhile ago I thought I'd replace the 'gasket' only to find there isn't a gasket. So I used LR's own sealant. I drained the box left it to drain overnight with the cover off and hopefully thoroughly degreased the edges before applying the sealant. It didn't last for long before it started leaking again. Is there a gasket equivalent instead of the sealant? With the new MOT rules they don't like old dripping everywhere.

I am replacing the injector loom again on a Disco 2 TD5 and trying to 'drain' some of the oil from the wiring to the red plug. I have pulled it back and left it disconnected from the ECU and hanging down the side of the engine. The red plug was full of oil but its not got into the ECU. I realise it won't drain all the oil out but some would be a help. I last changed the loom 4 years ago. Does anyone know how long I can leave the ECU disconnected from the battery without it loosing its programming?
