  1. is No 78 on http://www.yrm-metal-solutions.co.uk/defender-parts-nproducts8curpage-2-8-c.asp what your after.
  2. I've currently got a Mazda 3.5Sl fitted and want to put a turbo on it, but have no idea what to get or where i can get hold of one. Any help or suggestions please?
  3. Thanks for your sugestions. I'll give Pete a ring and definately join the shires, any help/advice will be handy on this mammoth rebuild, just a shame i've got to go down the Falklands for six months. There is a plus side though, there are hundreds of defenders down there so i might get some parts at a good price.
  4. I've currently got an 1989 110SW with a mazda 3.5SL fitted to a LT85 gearbox. I am slowly sorting all the body work and when finished i want to fit a land rover diesel (200 or 300 TDI) as the mazda is a bit slow, very noisy and expensive to get spares for. Could anyone recommend a garage or someone who could do the job and possibly supply the engine as i don't think i have the knowledge or equipment to do the job myself.
  5. Cheers, will give you a ring this week sometime. Its off the road at the moment having a new bulkhead fitted by a friend but would be looking at having it done while i'm away sometime between november and next May.
  6. The EFI sounds good, would there need to be a lot of adjustments to the wiring loom, i'm pretty sure it's still standard from when the 3.5 V8 was in. I will have use of engine lifts etc when i get back, is it a massive job to swap the engines i'm not bad with a spanner but not brilliant with auto electrics.
  7. I'm a after a bit of advice. I've got a 110 1988 SW currently fitted with a Mazda 3.5 SL. it originally had a V8 with a lt85 gearbox and i would like to change the engine to something a bit quieter with a bit more poke. I think it would be easier to go back to a V8 due to the gearbox but would consider others. Also i'm away a lot at the moment (7 months down the falklands from Novemder) so would be looking for someone to do the work. Any help on which engine to go for and where to get one and get the work done would be much appreciated. I live in Southampton but the 110 is up in Oxford at the moment so anywhere round that area would be helpfull.
  8. I'ts mot time next month and i have noticed that the crossmember under the second row seats (NRC4171) has rusted beyond repair. It looks like I need to lift everything off to change it . Is there an easier way of getting the new one in.
  9. This may answer your question. http://www.roversnorth.com/store/c-160-differential.aspx
  10. Depends where abouts on the back the oil is coming from. If its around the brake could be the output shaft oil seal. This thread may help http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=29370 There is another thread in the tech archive for replacing the bearing if you need to.
  11. thanks I'll get one ordered. Les i tried the counting them, kept getting 24 thought i was going mad even got the wife to count them still 24 so decided i would ask you knowledgable types.
  12. I was going to change the swivel oil seal so i may as well do the cv joint at the same time. Any idea whether mine would be 23 or 32 spline, its a 1989 110 SW V8.
  13. Thanks for your help. Happy it's normal. Now i know why the near side was not like it, there is next to no oil/grease in the swivel that side and full on off side. Just filled it up with ep90 for now. Taken it out for a drive, no leaks around seal but its weeping from the drain plug. Tried to tighten it, is there anything else i can do to stop it weeping from plug. Another question just changed nearside bearing and still getting a knocking noise when turning hard right what should i be checking(this is the side that had nothing in swivel housing).
  14. Having just replaced the near side front wheel bearings, decided to have a look at the other side. Just taken off the the plastic hub cap and a nice runny oil grease mix came out. Not sure where to start with sorting this out so any help would be appreciated.
  15. Thanks. Just changed the UJ's on the front prop so they're good. It was the backlash and thats about the amount i'm getting so thats good. Thanks again.
