  1. Hi guys, I've got a Clinometer and I am wondering how to wire it so it illuminates. Has anyone any experience doing this and if so, is it pretty simple to do? Thanks, Ali
  2. No instructions provided. The bit I am unsure about is whether I still need to use the old black and red cables/or just the brown and white ones that came with the LED light... or both?
  3. Hi guys, Hoping someone can help me here. I have bought a rear LED number plate light to replace my old one. After removing the old one, I am looking at the wiring and I'm confused how to hook it all up. The old light had one red and one black wire, which went into the Defender and into a switch. However, the new LED light comes with one brown wire and one white white already attached. Does anyone know how I need to wire this up with the new wires or keeping the old ones? I am a total newbie when it comes to this stuff, so clear and precise instructions needed (pictures even better!) Thanks, Ali
  4. Can anyone recommend a garage/specialist in the North East of England who can do a TD5 2002 Defender re-spray (interior & exterior)? So far been quoted £3500 and £5000 from two places.
  5. Hey guys, can anyone recommend an online version of a detailed workshop manual/parts guide for a 2002 TD5 Defender 90? I'm looking at removing the dash/fascia right back to the bulkhead to give it a bit of a refurbish. I've found a couple of sources but some of the diagrams all seem a little different. Wondering if there's a TD5 version so I know how to put my the parts back together but also ensure the right screws etc. are being used (because I suspect at the moment they aren't). Thanks in advance.
  6. Hi, can anyone advise on the lift needed to get a front wheel off the ground on my TD5 2002 Defender 90? I am looking at the original LR bottle jacks on eBay. Does anyone know what their extended height is?
  7. Sorry, I meant the front cabin and rear load space. Not the underside of the roof, my bad. Just if I could use the same method to paint the inside as the roof?
  8. Is the method exactly the same for the interior? Should I decided to do the inside also. Should it makes any difference, the paint would be a single part Synthetic Coach Enamel.
  9. Thanks Snagger. By "clean-up the paint and exposed aluminium for painting", do you mean remove the existing paint or simply clean to remove dust? I'm hoping I can simply paint over the existing coat but would it hold? Some detailed step by step guidance for me to follow would be a great help.
  10. Hey guys, So I am looking at re-painting and re-sealing the roof on my TD5 2002 Defender and I just want to ask for some general 'step-by-step' guidance as to ensure I don't make an irreversible mess. The reason for the work is because water is leaking into the drivers cabin after a heavy downpour, and secondly the roof has some pockmarks and areas where the paint (Alaska White) has flaked away. So I thought best to kill two birds with one stone and address both issues at the same time. So firstly, I'm planning on starting with the resealing work. Quite simple (I believe...), I've bought some "BOND IT CLEAR HA6 RTV Silicone Sealant Marine/Aquarium" and plan on pulling out all the old sealant before re-filling with this using a sealant gun. Job done? Secondly, I have bought a 2.5L tub of Alaskan White paint. Now my plan was to get a roller and brush and simply repaint over the top of the old paint. Can someone please confirm that this would work? Ideally, I want to avoid having to remove the roof as the space/tools I have at my disposal are quite limited. Also, is there any prep work or other steps which I am overlooking on this re-paint job? And can I use the paint straight from the tub or do I need to thin it down/mix it? Thanks in advance for any time spent reading this and any advice offered is much appreciated. Regards, Ali
