  1. Back again for more advice, After finding a pair of weeping seal on a rear brake caliper and thinking it was sorted, no such joy. I have now got a front caliper covered in brake fluid, found the problem is a leaking brake nipple. Any idea where to buy good ones. Local parts shops only sell ones which are twice as long as the standard ones. Also seem very loss in the thread until done up, have stripped one today.
  2. Bit late, but when I had this problem it was my rear flex pipe. The MOT guy said it maybe this, swopped it and MOT next day and passed.
  3. All, Thanks for the idea's. I have not checked the hose's, rebuild the calipers about 2 years back so had not thought to check them. I will check the the hoses first as I have never changed them in the last 4 years, then move on to the calipers. Thank.
  4. Hope someone can point me in the right direction, on the last MOT I only just passed with 51% on brake test. MOT is due and still have not solved the problem. I have poor stopping power but and normal road speed it is not a problem, but if off road on a bank the brakes will not hold the discovery. I have no leaks and have change brake master cylinder for a new one. Had another look last night and it is doing the following. 1 With engine running I can get the pedal all the way to the floor with steady pressure on the pedal. Seam to go down quicker when I rev the engine. 2 engine off I can only get the pedal 3/4 of the way down. 3 Took the small rubber vacuum pipe off that run's through the bulkhead and with engine running i can feel it sucking when I put me finger on where I removed the pipe. Tried brakes with the pipe off and only just stopped from about 10mph. I had a leak from the pressure reducer for the the rear brakes. Replaced this a while back hoping it would sort things out but no joy. Since then i can feel that my front discs are warpped. Has anyone got an idea what i can check next. Thanks.
  5. I am after some advice on buying a Freelander TD4 around a 2005 SE or HSE model. But I am not sure if to go for a manual or Auto. I have a 200Tdi auto disco which is great to drive but it is not a every day car. Where the Freelander would be the main family car. So any info on how reliable the gearboxes are would be a great help. Thanks.
  6. Cheers, in that case will order the flange kit as it had a hard life before me. Thanks.
  7. I have noticed that my front oil seal is leaking on my lt230 transfer box. I am I best replacing the drive flange also or just the seal. Thanks.
  8. Cheers for the info, will get a puller sorted and I can get the job done. Thanks.
  9. I need to replace the timing belt on my Discovery 200TDI. How easy does the crank shaft pulley come off, will I need a puller or will it normaly come off with a bar. Thanks.
  10. Hi, Can anyone tell me if there is a replacement Defender chassis that will take Discovery 2 axles full suspension setup with arms and mounts. Thanks.
  11. Cheers, found reference to the edit button but could not understand why I could not see it. Thanks.
  12. Hi, Is it possible to Edit / Amend a topic I have started. Thanks.
  13. Hi, Hope someone may have an idea where else I can look as my Discovery 300tdi is siphoning fuel back to tank if left for more than 12 hours. I have bypassed the filter on the rear of the chassis. I have had a look at the lift pump but this does not look that old compared to other engine parts. Cannot see any fuel leaks. Thanks.
  14. Hi, Can anyone tell me if I can uses the 200tdi Braided Brake Hose Set and fit them onto a 300tdi. I know the 300tdi only has 3 brake hoses, it is if the thread on the fittings are the same. Thanks.
