  1. It's the humidity and proximity to the sea that gets us... I got a chunk of Zinc from a boat shop, used an old phone charger and some hydrochloric acid. Puts a light coat of zinc on whatever you dunk in it (overnight) Plenty YouTube videos showing how to. Cheers Dave
  2. Hey Serg, are you going to electroplate them? The ends will turn orange real quick! Cheers Dave
  3. Hey Serg, what's the DCV going to do? 🤔 Cheers Dave
  4. Was multiple daily updates. What are you lot all up to (or not)? My excuse is I had a hip replacement 6 months ago, then overdid things building my new garage... Doc is not impressed, I need to take it easy or will f**k up my new leg permanently. Hope you lot are all OK. 🍺 Cheers Dave
  5. Keep it simple. Refresh all of the ignition. New plugs, leads, distributor cap, points, condenser. Set valve clearances, set timing. Make sure carburetor is performing properly. (replace if not) The 2.5 is more than enough for your needs/driving style. Cheers Dave
  6. My carburetor was corroded inside. Cleaned it many times, but it was always giving poor running. A new carb and it was like a new car. Cheers Dave Carburetter 2.5 4-Cyl 87 On (Weber) ETC6350 Island 4x4 - Specialists in Land Rover and Range Rover Parts and accessories for all models. UK and worldwide mail order. (island-4x4.co.uk)
  7. I had a 2.5 petrol County in the UAE. It was bad at first. Then fully serviced, new carburetor, top end de-coke (remove head, clean everything, reassemble with new gaskets etc) After this it was excellent. So, I would just do this to your car. Much cheaper than an engine swap. Cheers Dave
  8. What's the purpose of a diode in your trailer wiring? Stop back feed to the car? What and why? 🤔 Cheers Dave
  9. The cut is to create clearance for the uni joint onto the box. Cheers Dave
  10. You gain space in the engine bay by moving the steering box to the outside of the chassis. With this kit. P38 steering conversion kit | Blackbird Industries Cheers Dave
  11. "it's all just metal and you can do a hell of a lot with it in a suburban garage with a bit of determination." And Stephens otherworldly skills....🤩 Cheers Dave
  12. Chain mail tyres? Well within Stephans capabilities... Cheers Dave
  13. The obvious solution for Stephen is..... Just make your own tyres! 🤣🤣🤣 Cheers Dave🤪
  14. Do you two work together?🤔 @Stinkfloyd and @Stellaghost
  15. It's the first time I've had level concrete to adjust the mower deck! Normally lives in its own shed! Going to install a pair of Series tanks under the seat box. The drivers side one is long range and will need to be chopped to fit in the Defender chassis. Cheers Dave
  16. It's cool that your uncle gets to see you enjoy/improve your inheritance! You can take him mud plugging when it's fixed! Post pix here. Cheers Dave
  17. Merry Christmas all! Look what I got. 😍 Still heaps to do, need a wee rest now. 🍺
  18. Nah, walking on it after 2 hours! 😁 32kpa concrete and 30°C! 🥵 It's wet cos I hosed it to stop it drying too quick! 🤪 Cheers Dave
  19. No Landie progress, but shed progress! 54 M2 of nice level concrete! 😍
  20. Hey guys, I'm treating myself to a two post lift! Looking at the 110 chassis on my project, the only flat areas are about a metre apart. Is this the best area to lift from? (I've chopped the rear end off so virtually no overhang) May be nose heavy... Or do I go off the outriggers? (not flat underneath) Maybe make some wood adaptors to conform with the underside of the outriggers? I'll obviously wobble test first 100mm off the ground, just wondering what you lot do. Cheers Dave
  21. This is going to be one special rig when finished! 😍 Cheers Dave
  22. Nothing worse than snapping a tap in a hole that was too tight! DAMHIK🤪 Need to get me some of this... Cheers Dave
  23. I always thought the pitch was the distance between the "peaks" of the thread rather than the depth of the "troughs"🤔 Cheers Dave
  24. I've used HEL many times, all custom. Good price, top quality. You don't want a brake line ****ting itself, pay an extra few quid, job done!🧐 30 ish quid per line under a metre Custom Car Braided Brake Lines (helperformance.com) Cheers Dave
