  1. All the garage will do is clear the error codes if they are like the mob in Australia, could never help me.
  2. On the right of the steering wheel there is an "OK" button surrounded by four vertical and horizontal arrows, press the "OK" button and a menu should appear on the screen which normally displays the speed, fuel level etc. I am not sure of the exact layout of the menu, but, you will find there is an option to set a maximum speed for notification by the system. As Bear says, when you exceed the speed the alert displays on the screen. Cannot remember if you can turn it off, otherwise set it to 300, and if get to that, congratulations.
  3. Had the three amigos for years and years, Land Rover dealer garages could never fix, just erased the error, some even expressed total lack of knowledge of there being a problem(like it was unique to my car). Finally went to a Land Rover specialist who actually knows his stuff and cared, he traced it to the ABS control modulator electronics, replaced elecronics (not cheap, thank the lord he did not have to replace the whole module) and problem has not reappeared. This fix was done five months ago.
  4. Allways wave to other Disco and Defender drivers, occasionally I wave to Freelanders, and when I am feeling particularly joyous I acknowledge Range Rovers, most Discos wave back. Out here in Oz we are over run with Thai utes and Oh what a feelings, good to see that there are a few people out here who read through the bulls&^t, sorry, saturation marketing, of these eastern brands, and drive a decent 4WD. Could the Disco be described as the "Thinking mans 4 wheel drive"? or is that a bit too much?
  5. Had the same problem a year or so back, when the M and S lights flash that puts the system in "limp home mode" and will car only stay in third gear. On my car it was the gear select inhibiter switch($au 414) that caused the problem, until issue was resolved I found that problem only occured when selecting drive after reversing from garage, if, after reversing from garage I then did the Bill Gates trick and selected drive after restarting, system was Ok.
  6. Hi, the sensors in my 2003 TD5 are motion sensors, if yours are the same, train the moth to go to sleep when you lock the car and your troubles will be over.
  7. Thanks for that, but I did not have a vibration two years ago when the Hookes UJ on the rear of the front drive shaft gave way, just whack whack whack whack, as they do at 100 clicks. Turns out this latest vibration was caused by shot bearings in front diff. Maybe the front drive shaft destroyed more than the gearbox housing, floor pan and my nerves two years ago.
  8. Hi Everyone, I have a 2003 TD5 auto that vibrates whenever I take the size 9 off the go pedal, the vibration seems to come from the transmission line (I think) and gets worser! the faster I go. The vibration is very noticable at speeds over 100kmh and reduces until there is no apparent vibration below 70-80 cliks. I recently fitted new tyres but the problem persists, underneath everything appears to be OK, no excess play in drive shafts etc. any ideas?
  9. Had the same problem some time back (have 2003 TD5 auto), manual says that when M & S lights flash together then car will go into "limp home" mode, this is SO TRUE, just plugs along in 3rd, great when you are towing a caravan and have nowhere to stop. Anyway, it got so that the lights came on every time I backed out of the garage and I had to stop, extract key, lock car, unlock car, insert key, restart car but avoid reverse like it was a snake, then whoopee away we went. Finally had to get the LR gurus to check the fault codes during next service, they reported that it was the auto gearbox Inhibitor switch(P/N in Aus ROUHB100190, price in Aus $414.58) problem has not reappeared since new part installed.
