  1. Thank you all for your help. I agree with everyone's input. I recently installed a replacement motor and my new mechanic must have connected all the ground cables properly. I am no longer getting any smoke from the e-brake. Next I will replace the cable, shoes, and retention hardware. Mahalos, Gary
  2. The Parking Brank handle is dead. No tension what so ever. The cable is intact but slack even when the handle is engaged all the way up. I attempted to adjust the cable by turning the bolt on the e-brake assembly attached to the driveshaft. It would only turn about 90 degrees. When I had it in the shop, one of my mechanics said that the e-brake assembly was smoking when he started the truck. Does anyone know what would smoke in that assembly? I thought the e-brake system was all mechanical. Any help is greatly appreciated.
