  1. Hi, Does any one have a wiring diagram or could help me with a very weird electrical problem in my 300tdi Disco The lights and radio will not turn off and have a constant 12 volt feed to them Dash light go on and off with the headlight switch and even disconnecting the light switch loom plug does not turn them off. Disconnect of the battery does not reset anything. I have tried unplugging relays the I found in the foot well on both sides but no difference. Pulling the fuse works but not sure where else to look. I suspect there is a stuck relay or something but go no wiring drawing to know where to start. Any help would be greatly appreciated Peter
  2. Hi, Can anyone help me with a 5th gear part number for my R380 The Serial number is 55A 03227401J My one has a chip in one of the teeth. Thanks Peter
  3. Thanks for all the Input. My disco was first registered in March 1995 so assume it is a 94 build. I can find a Yellow lead with 3 spade connecters in the drivers side area behind the fuse drop down area. Not sure if this is the one. Might have to head to a landrover rep that is 2-3 hours drive away to get this looked at. The local reps do not seem to have the setup for this model. Pete
  4. Thanks for all the advice. I have taken my 300tdi to a person with the Test book. He could not find the port to the CPU and then admitted he just bought a Landover business and not that familiar with this. I will leave him alone from now on. Can anyone tell me where I should look for the Test book connection? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Regards Peter
  5. Thanks for the comments. Might need to look into who has testbook near me. Regards Peter
  6. This morning I had the SRS light on my Disco 300tdi stay on. The right had side S of the SRS flashes for a while then stays on. Can anyone give me some ideas on what I should be looking into for this type of issue. If it is too costly I will just remove all the airbag stuff but would like to keep it if I can. Any help wil be greatly appreciated. Peter
  7. Thanks for all the comments. Found my issue with my fans Both were open curcuit( Very strange) Then checked thermo swith in thermostat cover and found it was stuck on. This caused the fans to come on with the ignition switch. I suspect the previus owner did not fix this and the fans ran way to much until they blew up. Have fitted new fans and switch and all working great now. Peter
  8. Thanks for the prompt reply's. I will keep an eye on the temperature as we have a 40 degree day in Australia tomorrow and see if they cut in. Thanks Peter
  9. I have a great 300 tdi that is working very well. The air conditioning is much better than my 200 tdi was. The only issue that I have is the electric fans do not start. As i do most of my driving on open roads this is not an issue. I do though have a concern when i do get in traffic my air conditioner head pressure will rise dramatically. I have looked for the basics but cannot find a fuse for them and not sure which relay operated them. Not sure if there is a refogerant pressure seneor that cycles the fan or if they run with the compressor. My guess is they should start with the compressor. Does anyone know what turns these fans on from the air conditioner or have a Wiring diagram for a 300 tdi air conditioner system. Any help appreciated Peter
  10. Thanks for that. I will look inot it this weekend. Pete
  11. I have a disco 300tdi Does anyone know if you can remove the centre part of the dash without removing the whole dash itself. I have a rattle when my ventilation controls are on face level. The rattle sound is right behind the selector. When I move it to feet or screen the rattle goes. Any help greatly appreciated Pete
  12. I can hear the noise the most in these gears. I think in 1st and second the engine noise override the gear noise. As the speed increases the noise changes pitch where you can hear it much clearer. I will be doing the transfer case in the next month and just had a steel bush put in my intermediate shaft. Have all the bearings apart and will be interesting to set the bearing preload as per the overhaul manual suggests. The input shaft will be easy but the Centre diff preload bearing will be a bit tricky for me. Thanks for the comments
  13. I have a 300 tdi that has done 320,00 ks.. I have fitted two rebuilt diff which got rid of a stack of gear noise. I can now here the last gear noise from the gearbox or transfer case. I need some help with knowing what to rebuild. I suspect it is the transfer case and i can hear the gear noise in 3,4 and 5th gear. The noise quietens when I decelerate and is most loud under a light load at 100k/hr. I correct with my assumption that because I can hear the noise in 3,4 and 5th it is not the gearbox. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Peter
  14. Thanks for the reply. The Rubber pops off about 10mm from the length when fitted. Way to short so I have purchased a 200tdi disco one and it is the perfect lenght. Not happy at the agent that told me the rangerover one will be fine. Pete
  15. Hi, I have a 300tdi disco that had the rubber donut tail shaft. I have fitted my old 200tdi rear ARB diff lock but was unable to use the 200tdi tail shaft as it was damaged when I rolled the car four times. I have purchased a range rover tail shaft which has the uni joints and a slide collar. My concern is the slide collar is a fair way out and I am not sure what is normal on these. Does anyone know what the normal distance on this tail shaft slide should be as I am concerned that the gear might not be deep enough and strip. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated before I get stuck with a stripped tail shaft. Many thanks Peter
  16. I am looking for the part numbers of the two orings and 1 seal on the speedo assemble that bolts to the transfer case behind the handbrake drum. 1 oring is on the outside of the sleeve and the seal is on the inside. The second oring is shown on my manual but I am not sure where it goes. Thanks Peter
  17. I own a Disco 300tdi 1995. The speedo has been working but every now and then drops to zero then returns 10-30 minutes time. It has now completey stopped working. Can it test the spedo itself by shorting the cable like a reid swicth simulation. I am not near any LR dealers and want to get the right part the first time. If my spedo works with the shorting procedure I assume it is the tranducer that is causing the problem and I will get one freighted to me. Any test help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Peter
  18. Thanks for your advise I will give it a go this weekend.
  19. I have an issue with my rear door lock on my 300tdi Disco. If I use the Key to unlock i have to hold it to the left and then lift the handle. When I use the solenoid the button pops up and then drops back down so i cannot open the door with the handle. I suspect there is some spring in the lock that has broken but have no idea whether this can be repaired. Any help on this topic would be greatly appreciated. Regards Peter
  20. Can anyone help me with where the reverse lamps switch is on my 300tdi. I must need to be adjusted.I need to keep pressure on the gear lever to keep the revesing lights on. Any information would be appreciated Peter
  21. Hi, Can anyone give me some tips on how to remove the rear side windows on my 300tdi discovery. Not sure of the best way and do not want to break the glass. I just need to replace the cracked rubber. Any help would be appreciated. Peter
  22. Thanks for all the responces. Much easier than I expected. Three screws and found top motor bracket broken. This caused the the brushers to run down onto the winding joints causing a Tick-Tick-Tick noise. Replace the fan motor and is now working fine. Peter
  23. Hi, Can anyone give me some advice on how to get the heater/AC fan out to check for a noise with it. Get a Tick-Tick-Tick when it is running. Possible somehting stuck in it of bad motor bearings. Do I need to remove the dash or can I get to it without this? Thanks Peter
  24. Thanks Si, I have already done this but I bypass all the saftey options! High pressure and high water temperaturte. Would be great to get a wiring diagram before I start so I know what I am looking at. Pete
  25. I is the middle of summer in Australia and my Air conditioner just stopped working. I am a refigeration mechanic so know my way around AC but it is not a mechanical fault. My Fan on the evaporator runs and my condenser fans are also working. The clutch on my compressor is not engaging. Hi temperature water sensor OK and High presuure refigerant switch OK. Looks like it maybe a thermostat problem that is in the Dash!!!! Can anyone help with an electrical drawing before I go to the effort or pulling out my dash. This will assist me with fault finding and not to much down time. Peter
