  1. In that case if you believe you have the necessary free time to be able to volunteer hands on assistance to the A&M team then feel free to drop us a line Mo
  2. ^^As everyone needs a computer to access this forum I see the thread being of potential benefit to many here, after all it's as relevant as recent threads on amateur radio etc. I'm not going to delete your post Mo but if you have a problem then please pm me.
  3. Aye, ignore the AVG bit, just a brain glitch! Thanks for t'other info.
  4. I'm not renewing my Mcafee AVG subscription this year as I feel the service and support has dropped to a level that I no longer feel acceptable. I'd be interested in views on alternatives be they paid or freebies.
  5. Somewhere in my garage is a 240v engine heater that was fitted as standard to ex RAF Locomotors bodied Defender ambulances. I'd have to check the maker but it consists of a tube with a coolant inlet at one end, an outlet at the other plus obviously the 240v cable which feeds an internal heating element. The thing was plumbed into the V8 block by replacing one or two of the block drain plugs and circulation was entirely by thermo-syphon.
  6. Once I became used to the oil tanker like turning circle I never found the additional length of the 127/130 I had to be a problem. Once I had de-restricted the V8 it used to shuffle on pretty well all things considered. The longer wheelbase gives a relatively smooth ride on road too.
  7. My strong and well meaning advice would be to; 1. Grab a coffee / tea / beer. 2. Sit down and read back through some of the previous threads as the 2.5n/a v 2.5td / 200 v 300tdi has been discussed many, many times before. 3. Try and find someone local who has a good knowledge of Defenders to accompany you when you go to view.
  8. As this is a straightforward Defender specific question it's being moved to the Defender forum.
  9. I'm a just sitting here reading.. ...and watching.. ...as are the other mods.
  10. Since this thread has attracted a fair amount of interest and offers of assistance I'm now moving it to the Defender section. Defender question = Defender Forum.
  11. I'll try and dig some out ...if I can find the appropriate discs.
  12. The very best and longest lived bars are some of the old Federal Signal products such as the Jetsonic / Jetstream, Aerodynics or the old Twinsonics. Of course these were not e-marked but were built to last and be repaired. Back in the day I had much to do with Federal Signal Aerodynics, Twinsonics, Jetsonics plus various Whelen and Code 3 bars. I've had all light Aerodynics with twelve synchronised 55w rotators - obviously the power draw was not in the same economic league as today's LED jobs.
  13. For example these are reasonable bars which often crop up on the 'bay.
  14. Cheapest option to include all you want would be an ex AA rotator bar from a maker the likes of Premier Hazard or Vision Alert. I'd avoid the Chinese knockoff's or anything that's not e-marked.
  15. Easier if you tackle the job in the warm - the heat makes the materials more flexible.
  16. So, is this a model specific or generic question?
  17. [mod hat on] Oh no we're not. There is plenty of existing information regarding this already, there is therefore no need whatsoever to cover the same ground again. [/mod hat off]
  18. Grind the bolt head off. I wouldn't worry about the bolt shaft going into the chassis as you will likely be left with the bolt remains still held in situ but slightly proud of the rivnut. You could drill the bolts out but it's a drag so I'd only do this if you intend to refit some new rivnuts.
  19. If you do a forum search for words such as rust, corrosion, Waxoyl (or variations of that spelling) or any of the other products you should turn up a lot of info as this is a subject that has been covered many times before. As I've said in some of the other threads when it gets mentioned it's been years since I used old oil. The stuff is thought to be a potential carcinogenic, rots some rubbers, if washed off damages the environment as well as being a potential hazard to other road users.
