  1. And marked decreases in the costs of consumer items over the last 10 years due to Chinese manufacture has helped keep the UK inflation rate where it is. If China is suddenly forced to implement western standards of pollution control and/or workers rights/wages, then the whole world is going to catch an economic cold real fast. No western politician is going to go out of their way to upset that particular applecart.
  2. That database is seriously flawed - gawd help us if they use it as the baseline for charging in 2010. Put in our 2 vehicles - 2001 Td5 Defender - charge applies from 2010, 2003 Td5 Disco - exempt. Same engine, same particulates, different status. I thought all Td5's were Euro III compliant, thats why they replaced the 300Tdi ???
  3. We have a 2003 Td5 manual and get around 500 to the tank, slightly less if its all short distance work. This usually equates to around 27ish to the gallon. In comparison, our 2001 Defender Td5 averages about 28-29 mpg.
  4. Thanks - I'll have a play with it tonight - better than getting 10 hours of tennis
  5. Robby Gordon - in NASCAR its accepted practise to rub fenders and door handles, on the Dakar........................................hmmmm
  6. I've only had Sky+ for a few weeks - how do you do record on manual ?
  7. After 3 nights of snooker and having to record hours of c**p to ensure you get the Dakar - no......................
  8. Look under Dakar - then there is a sub menu near the top of the screen with Forum on it towards the right
  9. If you recorded the 23:15 programme you will only have half of the highlights. If you have Sky+ you had to set it to record both Eurogoals and the Dakar to get the whole show The Eurosprt forum has PAGES of complaints, but I expect they'll do what they usually do.................totally ignore paying punters
  10. Yup - Disco with roof box, or even a roof tent - they'll all fit. Warning - the high vehicles section only has loo's at each end. If there are more than 2 coaches in there with you, get there first !!!
  11. That and endless interviews rather than the real action. I'd like to see the Bowlers as well - the only car I've sen so far other than the VW's, BMW's, Mitsu's and Schlessers buggy is the twin engined 2CV on the preview programme.
  12. It'll be great if all these get upgraded to BOAT, but what is the attitude of the local Council and the Exmoor NP Authority - will they simply TRO them all once they get BOAT status (are they all within the NP boundary) ?
  13. I'm running mine with WPA encryption (the strongest security on domestic kit) without problems. The only problem I have with mine is if I wonder round the house with the laptop and the Wifi card switches between access points. As one is on the other side of the ethernet bridge it can get confused and a reboot is required. Apart from that it does exactly what it says on the tin.
  14. Classic I hope it never gets that bad on our DII - when starting it sometimes goes bong bong bong, other times nothing. No warning lights, so hopefully, no problem. Only issue so far was blowing both dipped headlight bulbs simultaneously, but at least I can change those myself (unlike out last Renault which required the whole front air dam to be removed before gaining access to the bulbs)
  15. I had a problem in certain rooms in our house downstairs when the router was upstairs, so I put one of these in WLAN Extender Now I get great coverage on the WLAN right out into the garden (great while working at home during the really hot weather this summer). The only caveat is that both units (one plugged in via Ethernet cable to the router, the other where you want the extra wireless coverage) need to be plugged into the same ring main. If they are on different fuses or trips on the circuit board it won't work. You will also be restricted to approx 6Mb bandwidth on the link over the mains cabling, so if you have 8Mb (and it actually runs at 8Mb) broadband you will get slower performance from the extension unit).
