  1. Hi all I had my EP9 superwinch and Plasma rope stolen off the front of my Landy on the 1st of May. It was about 9 months old. They hacked through the cables and and even stole the bolts right in front of my house with security lights and street lights. My mate down the road has just phoned me and his Goodwinch tds has been stolen off the front of his last night as well as his PDA and Wallet out of the cubby box. Hacked through his cables and unbolted it, even though one bolt was tack welded (obviously not good enough) I was insured but his is not!! The police are not bothered. I would advise everyone with a winch to weld at least two bolts proberly. If you catch them in the kidderminster area trying to steal your winch, please kill them on site and i will help you dispose of the bodys. Absolute scum
  2. Hi I had a cheap small grinder and the bearing was a little rough, due to using it with wire brush attachments. I then needed to cut a bolt off on the anti roll bar so i changed it over to a 1mm cutting disc, got on my back and crawled under the car. I had not even started to cut but with the grinder upside down, once i turned it on the bearing obviously did not like being upside down and eventually seized. because the disc and nut were spinning full speed and the shaft is now seized there was enough kinetic energy to undo itself (I do mine up as tight as possible), i saw the bolt fly across to garage, then the disc wobble and follow it, lucky for me not in my direction, the grinder was only inches from my face. I found that wearing welding gloves, lay on my back in a confined space i could not turn it off fast enough. Alot of my friends are not into motors and engineering as much as me and i wont let them use the grinders or the chop saw, i always do it for them. Take care people Rob
  3. SNAP Last bank holiday monday night i too had my nearly new First Four tubular Air Con bumper stolen from outside my house, complete with Superwinch EP9 and blue Bowrope. all in nearly new condition. The scum hacked through the cables with side cutters (must of took a while) The police could not even be bothered to turn up, just sent me a crime number through the post.
  4. Hi I fitted a airtex water pump the other day and noticed that the impellor was made from pressed steel and the one i took off (the original) was made of cast alu. Can anyone confirm if this is correct, or have paddocks swapped the boxes??? Cheers
  5. Hi Following on from the recent topic, im looking to use bb's as balancing beads as they work out cheaper. What sort of bb's should i go for? Certain make or material? Many thanks Rob
  6. Hi I was asked if mine had a lift. Yes it does, it has a 2 inch lift and i had to trim the arches a little at the bottom to stop the catching. Rob
  7. Make sure there is no play in the swivel first as this will make it leak, to find out lift the wheel off the ground and see if there is side to side and up and down play. to remove this play you can take out one of the shims under the top of the pre-load boss on top of the swivel housing. There is probably a more precise way to measure and adjust this play but this is how i always do it. Rob
  8. Are all bb's the same or should i go for a certain type / material? Cheers
  9. Not all 285s measure the same. these are fedimas and are very nearly 34s and quite wide
  10. Hi When i searched for my tyres 285/75s, the websites say i need 8oz for each tyre, the kit that contains only 6oz is 28 quid so to do all 4 thats 6 kits for 168 quid, that cant be right surely??? I've searched for airsofts and its brought up bb's for air guns is this right? do they do the same job. Cheers Rob
  11. Hi I have a internal roll hoop with back stays from tomcat, it is designed to fit inside the back of my van back 90. does anybody know if with some clever twisting it will go in through the back door? If not, which is best? lift the roof off or take a side panel out (if this is possible with the roof still in place. Cheers Rob
  12. Ive seen people make there own home made degreasers from a large plastic container with a lid (the big plastic boxes from diy shops) and a put loads for very cheap vinegar in, leave the parts in over night and they come out like new. Rob
  13. oh yeah, i have llama 4x4 extended lines, so no worries there. This pic is from when i built the 90 up. (chassis still wet)
  14. The axle wont drop if i do it one side or both sides, this is why i think it could be the prop restricting it. At the moment the dislocation cones on the front are having a free ride. lol I will have a play and see
  15. I have the later wide arms (late 300tdi) The shocks have loads left as when i had the axle hanging and then i un bolted the shock turret to shot up approx 3 inchs. i think i will try loosening the bushes, and unbolting the prop (it might not be the correct one?) I have heard of some people using standard rubber bushes on the arms as they allow more flex. I will let you know how i get on. Rob
