  1. You may find that one of the two bent pipes coming out of the fuel pump has fractured. This is a common failure and means a new pump . These pipes connect to a flexi pipe by compression fittings. The flexis then join rigid pipes on the RH chassis rail. (3.9EFI classic) Hope this helps.
  2. Hur de hur Mr Henson. Let he without sin cast the fist stone........... ISTR fetching you out of a predicament at Burnworthy........
  3. I'm sorry, but you're driving a defender and you're worried about the quality of the sound from your stereo.........???? I would have thought you would just be pleased to hear it!! Bish - Range Rover owner - running for cover!!!
  4. Oooooh [sucks teeth] He can't tell you that [taps side of nose] sooper top secret that!!!
  5. How about a hot wash in the washing machine? That should shorten the wait by a few years......... Yeah, yeah, I've got my coat!!
  6. Well, I unfortunately have some bad news to report: The site I visited at the weekend has a lot of potential but is a little way from being ready. I had hoped for a reserve site to be offered but nothing has materialised yet. I am affraid that I am going to have to postpone this event, probably until after Steve's do in April. I just don't have the time to do all that needs doing in the time available. Sorry to let you all down.
  7. Ah ha - so you're going to be a HATO? OR (reading from your post) a TOSHA!! Where will you be patrolling? We run Area 2.
  8. You will fail the MOT if it starts in gear so Fridgie's suggestion would need to be reversable or bypass-able come MOT time. Why would you want to start it in gear out of interest?
  9. Did I miss something Fi - training for what....? Or is it top secret.......
  10. Flinking Blip Andy!! It hasn't even seen the light of day and already you want to change it!!! I tell you, there's no pleasing some people..... Oh, and last month you said we'd get more piccies of Moglite this monh.... well, it's this month so where 're the piccies....
  11. Nick, Take a look at this thread on the Difflock Forum should give you a few ideas...
  12. Ooops Sorry Mo, the vid I have is the general Land Rovers are great one... Sorry old fruit
  13. Hmmm, Winch x hundred pounds. Security bolts 20 -50 pounds? If I'm going to nick a winch or two I think I'd invest in a few sets of security bolt keys - or a set of the "one size fits all" keys that garages seem to have to undo such bolts when the owner has lost his key..... Note also, that there are only 4 or 6 bolts holding the bumper on so if you "secure" the winch to the bumper then you'd better secure the bumper to the vehicle........ Sorry to be a bit pessimistic, but I think if someone wants your winch they'll have it. Although I suppose the security bolts may make them move on to the next winch along if it is easier to remove. I just keep mine in the garage....
  14. Surely the flow rate is a double edged sword....? Faster and heat is removed from the engine quicker, but it has less time to loose it as it passes throught the radiator so re-enters the engine hotter. Slower results in the heat not being removed from the engine as fast, but the input water temperature is lower as it has had more time to cool in the rad? There must be an optimum flow rate for a given cooling system, or am I missing something
  15. Mo, I've got the Bowler vid on my PC at home. Depending on my memory I'll email you tonight....
  16. Just to keep this one alive - I am meeting with a site owner on Saturday so hopefully I should be able to confirm a site then. Pugwash - you made any advances with your investigations? In the meantime, can we have a roll call please: 1. Bishbosh.
  17. Steady on chaps or Les will be wanting a group hug!! I agree though, 'tis nice round here!
  18. Well, here's the result of today's activities with Mr Grinder: Near side rear sill is the worst with a couple of holes in the bottom face as well as the side: And from the rear wheel arch: Off side is better with ony one hole in the side: and the pièce de résistance, the off side A post: and a bit of the footwell for good measure: Of course I felt quite relieved that it ended there, but not being one to learn from past mistakes I picked up my trusty hammer and started to investigate the inner wing: can you tell where the plastic wheel arch was mounted... I just hope Jonathan knows what he's let himself in for!!
  19. My Greenway Machos are 235 x 85 and are a tadge under 33" tall...... Note also that 235 x 85 Silverstones (the Simex clone) are about £100 each IIRC!! My greenways were £42 + VAT!! . Also, I have heard mentioned on here that the silverstones are not "E" marked....... don't know if this is the case though - maybe Rogue Vogue can confirm or deny.....
  20. Welcome aboard Ben! No age limit, (after all, Lovejoy may be there! ) just a driving licence, road taxed vehicle, common sense and decent recovery points front and rear required. Oh, and a sense of humour! Hopefully I'll have a venue sorted out soon!
  21. Well here you go Mark..... Some really rather sh!te photos, even by my standards! The fans themselves are about 75-80mm proud of the radiator (measured from the edge of the frame not the fins) Where the water pump nose is on the 3.9 there is about a 12mm gap between the nose and the shroud, which in this location is only 65mm proud of the radiator (between fan positions.) Approx shroud dimensions are 620mm wide x 420mm deep (V8 rad is about 435mm). There is about 2" of rad fins visible either side of the shroud. Fan diameter is 12". Mine's a pint
  22. Questions questions! If you're lucky I'll nip into the garage tonight.... but as I said above, the cowl is exactly the same depth as a V8 RR rad and is IIRC about 2-3" narrower. It stands about 75 - 100mm proud of the rad (off the top of my head), but I shall go measure - maybe . As for diameter - who cares? They are more than man enough to keep my engine cool and thats with it lugging my leather seats around the place! As you saw at Bampton, they cooled the engine from off the scale to normal in under a minute. and yes, I did keep them in their original cowl - it fits snuggly against the rad thus improving efficiency.
  23. I think you are on the right lines. Start with the easy ones first - check TRE's for play, then swap out the sterring damper for a known good one, then look at swivel preload. How much of a dead spot do you have in the steering around straight ahead? i.e. how much can you move the steering wheel before the wheels respond? Do you have a suspension lift? If so your castor angle will be out and this dramatically affects straight ahead sensitivity, partiucularly at speed. Good luck!
  24. Modeo V6 with aircon. Twin 'leccy fans (don't know the diameter - sorry) in their shroud fit a V8 rangie rad perfectly - well, same heignt, slightly narrower. Of course, that may be no use at all if your new rad is a lot smaller than the V8 one. Oh, and we want an update on the website....... the latest moglite fix is well overdue
