  1. A very generous forumeer has stepped into the breach so I am all sorted! Thanks all.
  2. Mine was a Disco 200TDi with auto so 1.2 box. Was fine on 265 / 75 Simex copies (if a little loud!). Was never fast and would slow down on long motorway hills but it could keep up with traffic more or less everywhere else. There was talk that the gear ratios in the auto box are different between TDi and V8 but I think that has since been scotched?
  3. Given your location and the rarity of 200TDi autos, the reg wouldn't happen to end OKP would it...?
  4. 12 year old thread revival! @Danny113, suggest you join GLASS which is very inexpensive and gives you access to Trailwise which will show you all the lanes everywhere!
  5. I have an opportunity to get some 110 tree sliders from Upavon but I cannot get across there before the New Year with all the Christmas shenanigans that SWMBO has choreographed šŸ¤Ŗ. So can anyone help out, even to just stick them in your shed until I can collect in Jan please? Jaffa cakes and Babycham ( or your tipple of choice!) as a reward šŸ¤—
  6. Maltings offroad do a kit on Ebay that says it is compatible with the 5.0 SC. Might be worth giving them a call to confirm?
  7. I don't need to renew until the summer so fingers and toes crossed that the industry gets a grip of itself by then. šŸ¤ž
  8. Thanks all. She doesn't have a self leveller and I doubt given her age she would have done from new - 2005TD5? No anti roll bars anywhere. Guess I'll just have to liberate a spring and see what the free length is, once I've cleaned off this weekends detritus from the underside! @Naks - that's the Boingy Bible.
  9. So I did must first weekend green landing in my 2005 110 and have confirmed my suspicions that the suspension is way too hard.( no ARBā€™s and corners with minimal body roll on road). Modest axle twisters that others idled through had my traction control going berserk. Looking at a video of that section the front axle seemed to articulate reasonably but the rear was very poor. From VIN decoderz it appears the vehicle originally came with ā€œ2950kg suspensionā€. No idea what that means. Springs are too old for any colour codes to be visible and I have yet to liberate one to measure free length but what I can say is that the rears are 19.3mm wire with approx 7 coils and the fronts are 15.5mm and nearly 9 coils. I donā€™t want any lift and very infrequently carry any meaningful load so where should I start with replacement rear springs? The boingy bible hasnā€™t really helped as it relies mostly on free length so hoping you lot have some sage adviceā€¦.
  10. As you have already engaged with Ashcroft for bits I would ask them the question. They will have far more direct and accurate experience than the bunch of reprobates that lurk around here.
  11. But it will use more fuel because it accelerates better
  12. You could do worse than joining GLASS and then contact your area rep. Although not exactly on your doorstep, Shire Land Rover Club is both active and reputable ( except watch out for @FridgeFreezer and @miketomcatšŸ¤Ŗ) http://www.shirelrc.com they organise events in the south and are well worth travelling for.
  13. Is the handbrake correctly adjusted? Mine was just binding a tiny bit and when coasting to a stop made one hell of a racket that I thought initially was driveline or t case related. After swapping out the tcase and fitting new drive flanges I still had the noise. I eventually stumbled across a post on here from years ago that pointed at the hand brake. 30 seconds with a 17mm socket and all was well.
  14. I think hydrogen paste is an interesting concept - nullifies the gaseous H2 risk and could be provided as a cassette you could buy at any corner store on an exchange basis. Of course, all manufacturers would have to agree to a standard format for the cassette so it will probably go nowhere....
  15. Looks like one of them had the hand brake shoes in the boot.... šŸ˜›
  16. Not that I have, or will, test it, but according to my ex neighbour's dad who was a retired fire fighter, you could throw a match into a bucket of petrol and it would go out too. I am more than a little sceptical of this assertion but willing to have it disproved by someone wiser braver stupider than me!
  17. Love you too Paul šŸ˜˜ šŸ˜
  18. Careful, you might end up with a convoy...
  19. Ironic really that the one who can talk the hind legs off a herd of donkeys got a throat infection.......šŸ˜† Was very sobering to see you in hospital but it has been great to see you recover although I am somewhat jealous of your racing snake physique!
  20. Is that why you grew a beard Mo....? šŸ¤Ŗ
  21. Note that I think in an automatic disco 2 the speed information is done by electrickery in the gearboxes somewhere as there is no sensor on the output housing of an auto D2 transfer case.
  22. No exciting back story from me sadly - surname is Bishop, often contracted to Bish which leads to Bish-bash-bosh and ultimately Bishbosh. Also often referred to as that bloke who gets stuck a lot... often because I have tried a line others were not willing / too sensible to attempt but equally often because I have the off road driving prowess of a damp flannel. That said, I haven't got stuck in over 10 years.......
  23. 2005 100 TD5 CSW, in Orange and Black (if that helps! šŸ˜›
