  4. hi all i have a 300tdi discovery (1997 model). i have suddenly noticed that when i turn the steering hard or jerk it towards left or right, it seems to lock up in the process. it seems that something is holding the steering from turning. any ideas what could be happening. is it the steering box or power steering pump? please help. regards

  8. hi all Is there a way to adjust the clutch on a series 3 landy. I just replaced the clutch plate and the clutch seems to be taking right at the bottom. I barely leave the pedal and the vehicle starts moving. gears are hard to engage as well. any help will be appreciated. thx
  9. thanks Western. am gonna try this as soon as possible.
  10. hi guys How do i get the air to blow through the air vents from the dash, i.e just above the gear lever. Currently when i put the heater on, it blows only through the windscreen vent. The lever on the right side near the drivers door is correctly positioned in that it is reflecting as blowing through the dash, but unfortunately still only comes out throught the windscreen. Any help will be appreciated.

  12. i have the OME suspension. There is no noticable lift. Only lifted by 10mm
  13. Hi LandymanLuke The play is up/down and very minimal, you can hardly feel it. The reason why i am asking is because at 40-50km/h i can feel a slight vibration. The UJ's are fine, wheels balanced etc but only at 40km/h i feel a vibration. Any thoughts? cheers
  14. Hi guys I need some help please. I have a defender 90 2.8i. The front propshaft connects to the gearbox. My question: how much free play must the gearbox shaft have. The reason i ask is because the flange on the gearbox has a slight play. IS this ok. thanks guys.
  15. This a 2.8i defender.(BMW motor) i dont think there are wading plugs for this defender.
  16. By reading this post Fridgefreezer, I understand that if the standard wading depth is adhered too then the factory fitted diff breathers are fine.If you want to go deeper, extend the pipes. Correct me if am wrong. thanks
  17. hi guys i noticed that the diff breathers on the defender is not the same as a series landy. The series landy has a ball valve that need sto be cleaned to prevent it from sticking. I see the defender does not have this but rather a pipe that fits straight into the diff. Is this ok? I presume there is no maintenance then. Regards
  18. Thanks cipx2. I followed the diagram and problem sorted. Thanks very much. Regards
  19. Thanks cipx2. Will try this.
  20. Hi The rear right door on my 300tdi 1997 model doeas not easily open by just lifting the door handle. I have to pull the door handle to the maximum before the door opens. It normally requires a hard jerk on the handle for the door to open. Is there some kind of adjustment that i can do on the inside of the door lock or handle. Any help will be appreciated.
  21. Thanks guys. gonna start checking as per your tips. Many thanks
  22. THanks JST and Western. Where are the panhard bushes located. Forgive my ignorance.
  23. hi guys I have read in numerous forums that the front wheel shudder on a series landy is sorted by ensuring that the swivel hubs are correctly set using a spring balance. This is adjusted by removing shims as required. I have a defender that causes the steering to shudder when i hit a bump at speed. But i noticed that the defender does not have shims etc like the series vehicle. I even fitted a new steering damper but the problem still persists. Any suggestions on how to correct this on a defender 90, 2.8i. thanks
  24. ok, i let it scream for 3 min as suggested somewhere in this forum. it then went off and never came on again. Hopefully it stays shut. thx
  25. hi teabag, the steps of events are as follows. 1. original battery was giving up on me as it was approx 5 years old. Hard dying start. 2. went to battery shop to buy new battery 3. removed old battery 4. fitted new battery. Connected the negative and then as th ethe positive terminal was connected, the sounder started and would not stop until the battery was again disconnected. 5. Eventually removed the sounder plug and drove home. 6. As soon as i attempt to reconnect the sounder plug it starts going offf again. With regard to re syncing the fob, no, i did not. No clue as to how its done. Thx Teabag. will await some advice.
