  1. Thanks for the replies, I have had a good chat with Nige (HFH) and will be ordering a full kit off him this week.
  2. I recently started comp safari with a 3.5 V8 EFI engine in a Whitbread car. Second event in the rain saw the engine stopping at every puddle. I need someone to supply a system to get over this problem with some technical backup with fitting and tuning as engine mechanics, tuning etc has absolutely no interest to me in the slightest so I need a turnkey job really. Any one have costs etc for this?
  3. Count me in Chris, as my Portal Tek axles have lockers as standard, can I get away with that? We may not make the first one as there is a lot of work to do. Can you remind me of the requirement for winch/electrical cutout? How do you measure tyres, mine ar 37.5" Boggers but they measure about 35". Happy New Year.
  4. Carl, have a look at our punch score and tell me what you think.
  5. Seems I left a full rope with a knot in the middle, a long extension rope with a loop tied in either end and 2 tree strops. Someone must have found these on the site. Please let me know so I can collect. Many thanks.
  6. I have two cars insured with Adrian Flux and have just recieved a renewal quote for my BMW. It was a similar cost to last year AT £692 with a £300 excess. Money being tight and all that, I thought I would get another quote. The first one I tried was LV, the were £259.00 cheaper so no question about where the insurance would be going. I phoned AF as they said they would guarantee to match any quote, I wanted to point out the error of their ways as the new quote from LV was with a £200 excess against AF's £300 and 16.5% credit interest against a whopping 37.7% with AF. Whilst I was on the phone, I thought I would ask what refund I would get on my defender insurance should I wish to take that elsewhere. On a £480 policy which was taken out in July 2009, I would get back £47.00. They retain 75% of the insurance, £25.00 cancellation fee and they retain their commission. Prior to my renewal on the defender, the renewal price was about £370.00, I waited a couple of weeks before renewing as the truck was off the road for repairs. When I renewed, they added another £100+ because there was a break in the policy. They seem to think they have a right to rip us off if the policy is altered in any way.
  7. The advantage with full hydro steer is that is less susceptible to breakages therefore you have more chance of finishing the comp. (with the exception of mine which often breaks) I once asked the question "why no hydro type trucks", basically that organiser wanted standard vehicles to enter which is fair enough. There are enough comps for the stronger trucks out there. My only problem with the clubman type of entry is there are lots of "standard" trucks with Ashcroft everything so they don't break, these are competing with "standard" vehicles at entry level and gaining a definite advantage. No one is banning them, I am not saying they should be banned but where do you draw the line? No one is banning Gigglepin top of the range winches or Saley and other hydraulic winches. Entry level challenges should be for standard vehicles with a level playing field for all. The class system more or less sorts out the other comps. Incidentally, my new truck is being built with full hydro steering with an added steering box for SVA purposes, will that be banned? Personally, I prefer the points system that divided the punch score by the number of vehicles that reach it, this leaves the hard punches for those that can, it takes longer but the points are higher.
  8. Just a couple of Team places left on this event. Any takers? Cars dont have to be road registered, just safe and sensible.
  9. I have a Sealey CP3002 which I bought from Difflock. Dropped it today from about 3 foot, the handle snapped and it is now an expensive piece of carp. Luckily, a replacement casing is £20 delivered.
  10. I will be coming now as the recession has finally reached Marple and work has dried up. No funds for Ireland and the 3 Peaks. This time I have a co-driver......
  11. I am still looking for a competent team to enter this with. Would like to go win it again.....
