hi my fuel gauge has always read low and I have never had a warning light I have 3 wires . from the front to the back they are black green and white at the back .has anybody got any pics of the wires or do I need a new sender ? p.s its a 200tdi 90 defender (1991)

hi all im afraid its come to the stage where I need to think about respraying the landy . can anybody give me any advise on what the best paint is to use and how much I need for a 90 defender not including the roof or the inside as Im keeping the original colour scheme . its red if that makes any difference

this morning I took my cambelt off to find out what exactly was causing it to ride forward .all the pulleys seemed fine until a came to fit the new belt .then I noticed the pump pulley main bolt had worked loose so the pulley could move forward when ever it felt like it .all sorted now thanks for your help.

hi iv got a 200tdi defender that has the timing belt riding forward .its a 1990 engine its done about 200,000 miles .when I first had it I changed the belt and the original belt had been wearing on the case .since then iv had no problems .I changed the belt for a trip around the highlands .and since then the problems come back . iv used the correct tools to tention the belt and the belt was a daco kit has anybody got any imfo on why this is happening and how to cure it .

I was thinking of using a five pin relay in the same way and connecting it to an ignition switched live so when the keys off so is the power to the relay.what do you guys think?

hi iv decided to fit a low coolant light on my 200tdi so I brought a range rover coolant cap .I assumed it would have made contact when the fluid was low but its the other way round .so it brakes contact when the fluids low .now I have no idea how to wire it .can anybody give me a clue ?

I washed the landy this weekend and while washing it I noticed the rear exhaust rubber was broke .im now thinking it could be the exhaust pipe rubbing against something so iv ordered some new rubbers . fingers crossed

the turbo whistles even if the pipes off and both props were new last year and have been greased monthly .the pulleys are shiny though what you recommend to dull them are you talking about scratching with sand paper or using very fine sand paper.

yes I changed all the belts and sprayed them with belt dressing but still no good

hi all iv got a 200tdi 90 with a squeal that sounds like a bearing at high revs when under load .I changed the cambelt last year the turbo feels good but it has a whistle iv changed the water pump and fitted an alternator . has anybody got any ideas what to look at next

maby its the brakes then he didn't have squeeling on the morning but he did after changing the seals

a friend of mine who is a novice has a squeal when pulling up hill he has recently fitted new hub seals and swivel ball seal im assuming bearings aswell what are the symptoms of ever tight bearings

the spring are britpart heavy duty . I know what your going to say but at the time I was rebuilding both axles ,diffs and brakes so I went for the best price

hi guys last year I fitted some hd springs on the rear of my 90 to cope with a heavy roof tent and it all went well . after about six months they started to sag .then a friend of mine told me that front springs are stronger than rear springs .has anybody put front springs on the rear ?what was the height like ? I'm only asking because I don't want to change the rear springs every 12 months . I carnt bear to see a land rover with a soggy bottom

my lights will probably get dunked once or twice a year iv had led indicators before and they didn't like the water . I was thinking of xenon bulbs or something like that .I have a 200tdi defender with well maintained standard wiring iv found them around 55w/60w .ill have to look in to Osram nightbreakers

hi can anybody give me any ideas on which is the brightest bulbs to go for and what wattage ? and how do they cope when they're dunked in water compared to standard bulbs . or am I better of just sticking to the standard candles I have at the moment .

so do you guys think valio or beck and borg ?

it chatters normaly when you depress the clutch to change in to second .the people who rebuilt my gearbox said the clutch was a valio clutch plate and was much better than the one they were going to fit so they didn't replace it .400 miles later it started chattering and its now 5 years later and its time to get it sorted .

hi all the clutch plate on my 200tdi has developed a chatter and I think its time to sort it .can anybody tell me the best make I can buy as its not something I want to do again for a while .
