can anybody tell me if puma front half shafts need a spacer were it meets the cv joint ? I cant find any information about it on the internet a friend of mine had some new with new cv joints and they fit a 300 axle but when I tried to put the spacer from the 300 on the half shafts the clip wont engage and I cant seem to find puma ones on the internet

wow that's interesting I'm running on military tyres and hd springs as I carry a roof tent and it can get a bit rough when going over bumps perhaps this could help a little .

any idea why it was fitted ?

hi all I'm upgrading the defender with real brakes ( disks on the rear )and thought id change both axles at the same time as my front axle has an advisory on excessive rust in the spring mounts .iv noticed the new front axle has a FRONT AXLE HARMONIC DAMPER on the diff .can anybody tell me if its worth keeping on or do you guys think I'm better off removing it ?

now I need to figure out some toilet options for the wife . any ideas?

ye I was thinking something like that .the gent I brought the roof tent from had road tyres on and he said the only problems he had was bellying out on the dunes {he was in a disco 3 ) I know its not the same but I recently went camping in the dunes at shell island and noticed my narrower military tyres left much deeper ruts than my mates wider tyres

hi all me and the wife are considering traveling around morocco next year and iv been wondering about tyres .has anybody done this trip and what type of tyres did you use ? it should be sand and rock driving I think. has anybody got any advice about the trip that may be useful ill be driving a well maintained 200tdi 90 if this helps . this is the setup so far I wont be taking the awning side room its a pain to set up but I will take the awning.

hi all iv brought a Sankey trailer for my roof tent iv got rid of the tub and I could do with some ideas of what to put on top ? has anybody got any idea were I could get brake shoes for a 1967 3/4 tone Sankey trailer ?

hi iv just brought a Sankey trailer and I was wondering how to go about finding the year .I have the codes off the vin plate but I'm unsure witch number relates to the year

western said the splines are coated in a rilsan plastic type coating but with the tube at the axle end the little drain hole at the end of the tube got blocked with grease and it held water the rust got behind the coating and swole up and wedged it solid in the tube .the coating was still in tact when I got it out and it was clear how it had happened so iv decided for good or bad to fit them with the slider to the bottom and ill let you know if they fail and I get beaten to death by the tube

iv just seen a reply on another post by western showing the workshop manual that shows both sliders to the transfer box .

I did actualy have one brake on me wile I was going about 70 mph it scared the pants off me . and thinking about it I didn't get beaten to death .

I'm not sure non of them lived to tell anybody about it

iv just watched a few youtube vids and they seem to be that way around aswell .I'm now thinking my imforrmasion may have been wrong .I was told that they should be fitted with the slider to the top because if they broke it would stop you getting beaten to death by the tube (which sounds logical)

hi all on my old defender I always had my propshafts fitted upside down so the water would drain out with no problems but on this one I fitted them with he sliders to the transfer box .after spending the day in water and not driving it for a few weeks the centre slider on both props became solid .I normaly grease them every 6 months .what are your thoughts on fitting the new ones with the sliders to the axle so they empty ? has anybody had any problems with props fitted this way around ?

can anybody tell me the location of the 2 longer bolts that bolt the transfer box to the gearbox as the last owner put them in the wrong place as I found out when I took them out .iv fitted a discovery box and I was told I need to change the speedo drive to a defender one can anybody tell me the part number as my defender one is not budging and the lips are now snapped off the new transfer box number is 28d334551e.

thanks guys when I took the sound proofing off the bonnet the holes were already in the frame so it all went well

hi everyone iv just been to wales for a weekend of laning and ripped the top off yet another terrafirma shock I had no problems with the standard shocks so I was thinking of boge heavy duty shocks has anybody used them before ?
