  1. “We are proposing that for kit cars, compliance with the MOT emissions standards current at the date of registration will be required, despite the use of an older engine. In other words the current relaxation for emissions according to the age of the engine will no longer apply.” That’s the section.
  2. I looked at the section in the consultation form. 4.11 I think. I’m wondering if EU 6 is being mixed up with pass MOT.
  3. Just latest mot standards. That’s not that hard to pass is it ? Must have some mot savvy people here. What’s the latest rules on emissions to pass mot ?
  4. Right but the paper says pass the current MOT test which is not EU6. Basically I think you need to have catalytic converters and a sensible condition engine.
  5. Is Euro 6 same as current MOT test ?
  6. I would look to provide evidence you own the engine, it is installed in said car, engine serial number and an overview of the work done.
  7. The throttle body opening is only about 70mm isn’t it ?
  8. I do, if I had to go 2.5 to get past the heater but the rest was 3 inch is that better than all being 2.5 inch.
  9. There is a more detail picture of the Devon one here. The snorkel does go through the heater intake area. I’m wondering how much a short smaller diameter section would make. I’m pretty sure a gas should speed up through the gap unlike a liquid. https://www.devon4x4.com/static/workshop/workshop-projects/devon-4x4-110-trayback/30-raised-air-intake/
  10. Still at discussion stage. Partly because I need to fix my squeaky dash first which means my dash is now completely in pieces. I didn't get a reply to my email so Ill phone them when I get a chance.
  11. Now you tell me :-). I do like fancy things. I’ve kind of built up my own kit from eBay.
  12. https://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/Refurbishment-Drill-Weep-Vents-Round-Vent-Damp-Walls-for-Rendered-Wall-Brick/281302505684?var=580851577456&epid=1549854968&hash=item417eef98d4:g:LloAAOSw0wRaGW3B. These look about the right size.
  13. Can’t find any that small. Tried car vents, small vents you get in mpvs which I would be tempted with for top of crash pad directed towards windows if my rev counter wasn’t there. Even Lizard tank vents. Puma ones look too big so I’m thinking 3D printing maybe or is that likely to be more than the mud kit ?
  14. Having my dashboard in pieces I now get to marvel at the engineering that is pipe in hole to windscreen for the vents. Surely side vent mod is just this ? http://www.retroanaconda.com/landrover/2011/11/defender-side-window-demisters/ Anyone who has looked at it find neat adaptors for the entry into the box and neat vents for the end panels ? Do the puma ones fit? https://www.exmoortrim.co.uk/our-models/defender/defender-110/defender-110-puma-2007-onwards/accessories/genuine-landrover-end-vents-lh-rh.html
  15. I've had a squeak in the dashboard so I've pulled it all apart to find what fixings I'm missing. I have a parts manual but is just getting a job lot of black screws and putting in what seems to fit a good way to go ? https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/331892086981?chn=ps&adgroupid=47842945425&rlsatarget=pla-380312376131&abcId=1129946&adtype=pla&merchantid=113789325&poi=&googleloc=1007203&device=c&campaignid=974959912&crdt=0 Something like this ?
  16. I get the idea , I just think for road driving on the whole more power doesn’t very often change the speeds you will be driving at and therefore more powerful brakes is not a must, it’s a bit of a plus. I’d rate decent tyres above uprated brakes.
  17. I’ve never quite understood more power needs more brakes. On the race track absolutely engine puts power into speed brakes take it out on the track brakes need to keep up but on the road all engines can get to the speed limit and you should brake in plenty of time anyway. If you want some sprinted country lane driving might cook the brakes but if you are not doing that why does accelerating more quickly to your desired speed need more stopping power?
  18. Not finding many gauges. Found some senders that would maybe do it but not sure which gauges it would connect to. Could maybe link into my PI but that seems like work to get it to display nicely.
  19. I do have an hydraulic winch can you get elecric gauges for winch pressure ? I don’t fancy a pressured line behind the dash :-).
  20. I have a nice shiny raptor binnacle for my megasquirt rover auto v8 Defender. Currently I have speedo, fuel, water temp and a tachometer on the top of the dash. The far right pod in the dash is a light that would come on if I over rode my electric fan but I’ve gone back to viscous fan. Seeing as I am pulling the dash out this might be a good time for a new gauge or light. What would be a good gauge or light to add ? I have Lc-1 wideband so I could do AFR. Oil pressure or temp ? Low coolant mod and light ? Warp speed indicator ? Clock ?
  21. Just found this on raptor. https://www.raptor-engineering.co.uk/product/defender-s111-double-din-console-dash/ I've done mine now but if anybody else is interested. I'm going to grab their dash binnacle and binnacle mount which is where I saw it.
  22. I have been known to yes. I think beard is given as the mark of the shameless car modder. The amount of series 1 and others that have become hybrid trailers and that’s all fine but have a beard and drop the front by 5 inches and that’s mod too far. I’m saying is if you are doing a project get a solid base vehicle. I appreciate the mod will have almost certainly been TV ised for the program. I saw the article in LRM but not the program. LRO (yes I read those mags from time to time I know I know) has a really low green one this month. Hope it’s not becoming a trend ...
  23. I see the objection but I’ve got bits from a scrapped vechile before because that seemed like a good way to go, but then you find out why it was scrapped and that’s because the whole vehcile has been abused and neglected. And then that engine and gearbox after time and expense went in the bin and I started again. Now, I would definitely start from a known good vehcile. If they bought a knackered one they would have to restore it and then chop it about. So it’s not that different to buying a restored one and chopping it about. I’m not sure we are really that short of Series 2a’s yet.
  24. I’ve emailed RAC to see if they will sell me the top part. The Devon one I do like. The bonnet does have a notch but the main part seems through the wing which would be fine. I can’t find a picture of how it comes over the heater. Once I’ve fixed my dashboard squeak I’ll see if I can get the outer wing off. It does look tight under the heater. Wondering if the inner wing or bulkhead could give up a bit of space.
