  1. FolksAm I ok putting a td5 90 transfer box onto a 300tdi R380 box?I vaguely remember there being a difference between the tdi and td5 R380 but cant remember what?!But I may have dreamt it......Cheers!
  2. I made the mistake of buying the Haynes book before rebuilding mine....dont bother!
  3. Re the filler recess could you remove the recess part from your old tub and cut an appropriate hole in the td5 tub and pop rivet the recess in? Shouldn't be difficult to do a tidy job? Seatbox, mmmm I think the td5 tummel is shaped for the R380 and is the same as the 300tdi so wouldnt work, however you could cut the flange section off the front of your old Seatbox, and do the same on the new one and rivet the old to the new, cut the old larger than the hole to create a flange to rivet? The joys of a rebuild! Mine went from a 1992 2.5 Petrol with LT 77 to 300tdi with R380.......td5 bulkhead with 300 wipers etc, oh the fun we had!
  4. Part number MUC 4299 Got mine from here not Sh*tpart!.... http://www.johnrichardssurplus.co.uk/bulkhead-vent-seal-muc4299.html
  5. Rubber glue to the bulkhead type have arrived and have been fitted, jet wash and the seals didn't leak........result
  6. Thanks for the replies, Ive ordered a couple of the glue on type.....
  7. I'm on my second set of bulkhead vent seals in two years, yes the infamous blue box......if it rains heavily the windscreen gutter overflows (it is clean) and the water comes in through the vents........it also comes in when driving in rain......its a td5 bulkhead and vents on a 300 tdi 90.....the seals I currently have are self adhesive and stick to the flap, is there a better solution (genuine parts?) or should (or could) I try the earlier type that are glued to the bulkhead? Thoughts? No, it's not supposed to leak!
  8. I did no mods to the catflap hinges on my 90.......
  9. Blue smoke is burning oil, Black is too much fuel or too little air, whitish is too much air or too little fuel, so oil is getting into the combustion chamber somehow is my theory...my 300 has no glows wired, a puff of light blue followed by a small amount of black smoke when accelerating for the first 30 seconds.....not clouds of blue smoke, quite what the suggestion regarding throttle cable relates to is beyond me....... So either worn bores, worn valve stem seals or worn oil seals in the turbo, or an intercooler with oil in it would be my guess......
  10. Hi folks Im thinking of blanking my bulkhead vents and wonder if anyone can tell me the part numbers of the plastic blanking panels to cover the bulkhead vents please, as fitted about two million years ago to Aircon equipped Defenders, a parts diagram, or link to would be awesome to see how they fit! Thanks folks! Paul
  11. Folks When I rebuilt my 90 I used a Russian online parts manual, it seems to have disappeared, is there anything else online? Cheers Paul
  12. Seems wierd, I can't imagine the lobe on the cam being worn to the extent that the pump doesn't, erm, pump? if it is then its the least of your worries(!). Can't really see how it couldn't work if its the correct part. Have you tried pumping the pump (with it fitted) by hand with the lever beneath, to see if it will actually pull fuel through it manually, I just wonder if you are misreading the problem....especially as the original pump appears OK......could be the fuel pickup pipe in the tank is blocked, or similar, preventing fuel flow? Keep us posted! Paul
  13. I've done it at silly speeds with no issues.... Paul
  14. I think I've seen this issue before and no replacement xmember was available........this means fabbing your own........which is nice!.... Paul
  15. Don't think so, check of theres a seal on your cap/neck? Paul
  16. Its a nut and bolt job, as said, from the bottom, however the last one I did, I had a hell of a job getting the old tank out, perseverence got the job done, it's a fiddle getting the new tank in as well, at the factory I bet the tank is fitted to a bodyless chassis....the fuel filler pipe is an absolute joy, rusted jubilee clips and not much room.... Good Luck! Paul
  17. Could someone please post a photo of the seal on the bottom of the RR Classic tailgate that seals the gap between the top and bottom tailgate please, I need a seal for a Series catflap and am wondering if the RR jobby could be modded to fit.... Thanks Paul
