Right now in my area diesel is $2.60 to $2.85 per US gal whilst Unleaded is at $1.52 to $1.65 per US gal. My interest in knowing about running on vegetable oil comes from the recent high fuel prices in the US. Diesel was selling for around $4.89 less than a year ago and I want to be prepared when those prices return. Also, I would like to be a little greener than I have been in the past.

I have a 2.25l diesel that i would like to run on Veg oil. Does the old military engine need any modification or can I simply add the oil and drive away? Thank

The truck has serial number of 89501909A. From what I can tell it is the last in the 895 series built, which is the Export LHD diesel lightweight trucks. This should make it a little more desirable over time. That's all I know so far, but would love any help on tracking down her history.

I have just purchased a lightweight that has a 24v electrical system. I have thought about converting it to 12v, but have some reservations about the conversion. First, will it change the value of the vehicle if I chage the systen away from original? Other than changing out the alternator, starter, and lights, is there anything else to the swap? Can you simply rewire the alternator and starter to a 12V system without replacing them? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just purchase a Ex-MOD Dutch Lightweight Series III Left hand drive Diesel as my first Land Rover. I purchased it from a dealer in Southampton and it is being shipped over to Florida. I also purchased a Sankey trailer with the lightweight. Just wanted to let everyone see it. Please let me know what you think.
