How long can run my 2a with nackered oil in the gear box, can i run it around the place for a few days befor i change it?

I dont really do it enough to make it worth while. What is it that actualy makes it stall, is it when the fan goes under water, and if so is there a way of disconnecting it for deep wading.

It was only just over the bottom of the door sills, water just came into the foot wells a bit. but it is mis fireing a bit, mainly at low revs in a high gear, mainly 4th. i dont think it was deep enough to get into the air intake, i think the water level was just below the centre of the fan... dont know if that makes any sense to you!! how much, approx, oil do i need to fill the gearbox? i flooded my 2a in a ford which was slightly deeper than it looked, The gearbox oil has gone milky so needs replacing. does it use the same ep 90 as the axels? Also it is not running as well as it did. I have dried the distributor out and dried the spark plugs and leeds. Is there any thing else i should do or does it just need a good run to dry it all out?

I have also got the 2.25, so that should be alright. that is really usefull i will check that all the parts are there and they are in good nick, when i find one many thanks

I am thinking of fitting an over drive to my 2a. firstly is it worth it, and secondly how much do you pay for a second hand one, and is it worth buying a second hand one i would appreciate any views!

Yes 2x 80W speakers

As i said earlier i am, eventualy when i get round to it, putting a radio in my 2a. Can this be wired straight from the ignition feed, meaning it will turn off when the ignition turns of, or will it draw too much. They are only small 80W speekers. Thanks

Firstly it is -ve earth so thats fine I have built he speakers into the doors. it is just the problem of mounting the radio. i dont have a cubby box, otherwise that would have suited. i think i will just have to go for the original option and see what i can do. thanks to you both oh yeah and it s a soft top so couldnt put them on the roof.

Does anyone have any good ideas where to mount a radio. I have thought about mounting it under the dash, just to the right of the speedo, but it doesent fit properly Thanks

i have replaced my front brake drums on my 2a, it has 2 drums on each wheel, strange as it is a swb. does anyone have any top tips for bleeding brakes as i just cant get them to work thanks

I like your way of thinking Steve,sadly i already have a co-pilot, and im am presently sorting sponsership out, i know its a lot of money!! I am hoping to take the cheaper option and put a few spares in a british truck that is going, that means i dont have to sourse my own support team And thanks BogMonster, i think i will build it up from scratch, unless anyone has got a better vehicle to use.

Hi, Im planning on doing the Paris Dakar Rally in 2008. I am thinking about basing the vehicle on an old Discovery series 1. Has anyone got any views on this or anything that would be better. I have decided that a 90 would be too slow and not very comfortable, so went for the disco. Also has anyone on here done the paris dakar or know anyone who has done it? Thanks
