  1. Ive got them in mine too, they're getting big aswell... saw one with "MUM" tattood on its leg the other day.
  2. I didn't think it was as simple (or not in this case), thats why I've asked the question. What is needed for the EDC system? Is it worth it? Somebody mentioned around 140bhp with this management. Is this correct? Im looking at ways to increase torque/power for towing heavy loads without going to a td5 (affordability) plus I wouldn't mind a bit of challenge . When towing on the motorway big gradients are taking their toll on my 300tdi, which is well serviced with the pump tweaked and boost set at 18psi. Other than mangement and an expensive intercooler I don't have many options. Cheers.
  3. I was talking about converting a 300tdi to run stand alone management not the EDC system. I was just wondering if it could be done without great expense.
  4. Has anybody heard of it being done? Im not talking about the late ones with the fly by wire to the pump, I mean stand alone engine management such as megasquirt? I realise it would be a mix match of components, just wondering if it'd been tried/done. I would be interested if it could be done without costing ££££'s as it could potentially release power/torque. Cheers.
  5. I've lost my front electric windows after putting them to wash mi Disco... I know I shouldnt wash it All was fine, put them up, turned ignition off... washed it. Came to move it, no front window movement!. The backs are disconnected in the doors from a previous fault so cant comment on them apart from there's power to the switches and there is to the fronts. I've tried swopping the switches, no difference. Changed the fuse, no difference and ive got power to the rear switches but not the front. Can anybody shed any light? I could really do with sorting it before tomorra!
  6. Could be loose front wheel bearings making it wonder if they're really bad. Had this on mine, they wern't noisy but REALLY loose... made it impossible to keep in a straight line.
  7. The clutch itself seems fine, no clutch smells. Offroading was relatively light stuff (tong @ bradford)... no big hills, just ticking over and the odd getting jammed in scenario. No clutch hammering tackle. The pedal seems fine apart from the play in it.
  8. Rubber piping? Do you mean the loop that joins the master and slave? I've checked for leaks in the system everywhere no problems. The Header was still full of fluid when I lost the pedal whilst offroad. Inspected pushrod today, ok. Cheers.
  9. Ive got a few problems with the clutch on my disco and wonder if anybody can shed any light on the matter. I fitted a valeo heavy duty clutch last weekend, with new clutch fork and release bearing. Went on a play day without a hitch right until the end where I lost the pedal. Couldn't get any gears, I drove it home without a clutch pedal... it was mostly motorways so coped ok. Clutch pedal was perfect, no play. The slave cylinder had the slightest of weeps when I did the the clutch and I mean the slightest. Today I've changed the master and then the slave after no difference, it was one from a defender apart from the little round (diaphram?) thats bolted to the bracket with slave, I don't know what this is called . This was missing from the donar so I used the one that was on my disco. I bled the system and got a good pedal and thought all was ok. I left it for a couple of hours doing other maintenance and lost the pedal. I thought it must be air in the system. So I slackened the bleed nipple and let gravity bleed it for half an hour or so, as was recommended by a friend. Which after locking off and much pedal pumping has left a usable clutch pedal, but... it's still not right. There's about an inch of play before I get a pedal. I've drove it for about 10 miles and the inch seemed to be getting more like an inch and half. Im gonna leave it and inspect in the morning. Can anybody shed any light on this? Air in the system? I have also noticed a slight 'judder' after changing both cylinders today that wasn't there before I changed them.
  10. My mate has a garage and has had two disco td5's recently for services, the last services on both were done at lr dealers... you wouldn't believe the things they didn't do that they said they had. Shocking, and here's me considering buying a new disco to use everyday... think i'll stick with the golf tdi:D
  11. Tyres look like 265/75/16's and I reckon it's on a 4" inch lift.
  12. Ahh right... I'd rather amble about in a disco aswell
  13. If Im being a muppet please tell me... could you explain how a focus st; st170 2.0li or 2.5t (newer version) will return more than your disco? Ive had both and the st170 returns 25mpg mixed driving and the 2.5t is ridiculous on fuel. If you want fuel economy buy a vw lupo 1.4tdi... 68 mpg I kid you not. If the lupo is too small a mk4 golf gt tdi 130/150 will return 53+ mpg on a motorway run all day. Clarkson said it and its true.
  14. Sorry for late reply. Yes its got a 2" lift.
  15. It's only a chopped up disco mate.... chill out. I've seen far worse rolling about at pay and play days, so if thats in your top ten worse cars you ain't seen many...
