  1. Thanks everyone for your collective input. Will try some OEM calipers.
  2. New image here http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?app=galleryℑ=12706 and http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?app=galleryℑ=12707
  3. How much clearance is there normally between the caliper and the hub?
  4. Calipers are new SEB500460 and SEB500470 Discs are new LRO17952
  5. Having read a few posts I thought that this was a bolt on job so as the discs and calipers on my 1989 110 were worn I decided that this was the time to go for it and replace solid discs with vented discs. Got the vented discs and the wider calipers. Well all seemed to bolt up fine, however the thicker areas on the inner edge of the hub where the studs are just catch the caliper. Is it not a straightforward process on this age of vehicle? Do I need different hubs? If so what from?
  6. Putting a 3.9 efi from a 95 disco in to a 89 defender to replace a 3.5 on twin su carbs. I have the complete engine loom it includes everything including wires to stuff like starter motor, oil pressure switch, alternator etc all in one loom. Is it best either to fit the whole loom take it back behind the dash and from there connect everything and strip back existing wiring to there. Or is it best to leave all existing wiring to ancilliaries etc in place and only use the new loom for the efi bits? Which is best way to do this? Gerald
  7. Thank you, the approach of leaving the low pressure pump in the tank and adding a high pressure pump in line appeals especially as I have the tank behind a protection plate which would have to be removed fist. Gerald
  8. I am about to replace the factory fitted 3.5 on twin SU's in my Land Rover 110 with a 3.9 EFI what is the best approach to the fuel pump problem in order to achieve the different fuel supply pressure required. Gerald
  9. There is a small diameter hose that runs from the inlet manifold to the top of the rad. Take it off at the manifold end and check that the small hole in the nipple like connector is not blocked, if it is then this is what causes the air lock. Gerald
  10. Defender locks are definately not the best, can anyone recomend alternative door locks that can be fitted?
  11. Is the engine free to turn? If no antifreeze then a frozen water pump can frustrate even the best of stater motors!
  12. Fitted one to an 89 110 county station wagon. Stuck some basic sound deadening strips to the roof first, overall much quieter than the original headlineing, much easier to keep clean and no danger of sagging. Brill! Gerald
  13. Thanks have installed an in line one in the bottom hose and adjusted it to come on at an appropriate temperature. However when it comes on is not consistent, that is it does not come on at the same temperature shown on the gauge each time. The gauge is of course measuring the temp at the top of the engine and it is at the bottom. Not sure if that is the issue or if the thermostatic switch is duff. Gerald
  14. Installing electric fans from a Mondeo v6 as suggested elsewhere on this forum, to a 110 V8. Should the fan thermostatic switch go in the top hose or the bottom hose? Gerald
  15. Thanks Was hoping you would say that about the power to the switch, plenty of choices on that basis. Will probably have to bring the power for the feed from the battery then. Gerald
  16. I want to fit some driving lights on the front of the roof rack for off road use. I intend putting a switch on the dash and a relay near the fuse box. Where is the best place to draw the main power feed from to go in to the relay and where is the best place to draw the power from for the switching circuit? Gerald
