  1. you are right there mr fridge, twood be a simple solution, looking to the future when these resistors run out is the problem, and also the lpg manufacturors wont be making high Z injectors so some where along the line we need to find the fix. As jeff said were real good at reflashing firmware woody
  2. hi , here,s my 2 bobs worth, you only need 1 lambda, fit it as close to the collector on 1 bank of cylinders, otherwise it will go cold on low revs and idle. you only need lambda,s to aid tuning of the lpg due to the fact that you have no OBD11 facility to read fuel trims. Lucarse CUX14 has no facility to log fault codes relevant to injector emulation or lambda simulation[its basic. Can you run low Z lpg injectors with squirt?? yes of course you can...as jeff said you have to alter engine constants to suit, this then fecks up the petrol side , if you try and run low z lpg injectors with engine constants set for high z petrol injectors ,it will run , it will rev up , but thats it , put any load on it and you will do 1 0f 2 things or even both, fry the low impedence lpg injectors[you are on a hiding to nothing to start with as the omvl wet dream 21n is a splendid system very cheap and chearfull with poor quality injectors] or and wipe the MS chip from a massive short across the lpg injectors as they are peak and hold not on off. How do we know all this ?? months of trial and error between Jeff and myself, we are working on an answer for the lpg injection and as Fridge has said resisitors may be the answer. One thing for sure when we get it right you will be the first to know. 3. hi the Longlife warranty is for life!! its transfereable from one keeper to another for a small fee. The grade of stainless is the best..314 which means it dont rust at all. prices are usually very keen. We open our doors as a Longlife franchise in about 3 weeks, when we do i will [if allowed by the nice forum people] post details and offer a LR4x4 group discount....just clean your trucks first woody
  4. hi , i have mounted the rads in the back on both our trucks, mines a Hilux with a 3500 V8 this uses only the std water pump and uses a nissan primera radiator, my sons SJ has a similar rad to mine in the back of his and thay both work a treat. Be carefull to bleed them out well and its adviseable to have some sort of bleed valve on the top hose. good luck and put some piccies up Woody
  5. hmmmm 5 degrees or so sounds like the amount of stretch in a knackered timing chain, if you have the heads of you will see if the cam is moving or not.If in doubt take the timing cover off remove the chain and see if it turns over then ,its easier than taking the box out. hth woody
  6. ..not sure , mine are flat and work on all materials so far up to the specified thickness.
  7. Hi Mate, i,ve got the JD2, bought it from Tubela in Braintree, it cost nearly £1100, the die sets are the bit that costs. Well worth it even of you only make your own cage woody
  8. i would,nt have thought that MS will do any better job than the feedback system you already have. If it was mine i,d ditch the stepper and go open loop FWIW. cheers Woody
  9. There are dozens of vaporisers on the market with a price range from cheap to not so cheap. Depending on the horsepower of your engine and how hard you want to push the pedals round depends largley on the type you need. My own 3500 is running lpg injection, using a vaporiser designed to run a max HP output of 100bhp,i hav,nt had any problems with power output. All gas injectors are flow rated again dependant on horsepower. We now have a budget range that you tune youself by drilling the delivery nozzle out, they work really well and are keenly priced. Injector nipples need to be as close to the petrol ones as possible,if you can angle them at about 45 degrees all the better and the pipes as short as is practicle, they dont need to all be same lenth as some people think. if any one wants pics of any paricular part of the lpg system let me know. If anyone has a big horsepower engine ,then you will want the Keihin injectors and a Prins vaporiser, not cheap but will run a supercharged 600hp no problem. keep the questions coming. woody
  10. Hi all , Jeff and me have been talking about this for a while now, we have all the parts we need [lpg wise that is]someone asked earlier if they can use the vaporiser from a carb set up.. no you cant you need constant pressure, normally about 1.5 - 2 bar. The change over from petrol should,nt be a problem,if you power up the solenoids with the ignition, this will have a priming effect,so when you change over the pressure will be there already. We have the technology and accesss to all the best parts. Cheers Woody
  11. drill a 3mm hole at 12 oclock[on the stat not at lunchtime] .Homemade air bleed, it works. woody
  12. Try the local breakers for a jag pump, old xjs ones are on the rear axel beam and usually rust to buggery, the later XJ40,s have the pump in the boot, other than that , anything efi will do, the inlet and outlet sizes may differ but they will all do the job. cheers woody
  13. Classic case of partially blocked rad. As you have already had a big lump of blue stuff come out, its almost certain theres a lot left in the core, a rad specialist will be able to tell you what wrong. Cheers Woody
  14. Dont forget your fuel pressure, check at idle with vac connected approx 35 psi, with it disconnected aprrox 40 psi. cheers woodytz
  15. Ditch the leonardo feed back system, totaly not waterproof and it will pack up leaving you stuck with no gas...keep it simple.Use the MS for a spark map for LPG[bobtail 84 where are you]. You will need a line tuner in the gas feed pipe to replace the stepper motor though Multipoint type vaporisers are different to induction type, multipoint require constant pressure, induction is like a SCUBA regulator ....supply on demand hth woodytz
  16. Its a good idea Jeff, i personally dont think it will have any advantage ,unless you can run the ignition fully sequential as well as the injection. using COP will make an already busy engine bay a whole lot tighter, and i dont think the rubber insulators will seal on the plug half as well as the leads do cheers Woody
  17. Hi , if its already got LPG fitted be carefull, theres a real load of plop out there, ask for the name of the converter and system installed, then do your homework on google. You could be buying someone elses problems HTH woody
  18. Snap ON,, i,ve had mine 3 years now , the batteries are still as good as new, last ages, dont run down with time, and its powerfull you pay for what you get. cheers woody
  19. ANY vehicle manufactured post 1993 {K reg}will be tested as a cat vehicle and subject to the relevent emmissions criteria. A lot of manufacturers used cats and closed loop fuel management before 1992 cheers woody
  20. Hi , it will make a huge difference to the temp, my off road Hilux has it and it stays really cool under the bonnet[rad is in the back so this makes a difference as well] i reckon you will need at least a couple of rolls to do your headers. cheers woody
  21. Hi , this sounds like a problem caused by the LPG install.Because the lucas CUX14 is such a basic injection system it does not need injector emulation. The method used to cut the petrol injectors when switched to gas mode, is to cut the brown and orange wire from the relay that feeds the power to the injectors,by cutting this wire unless you know the wiring fix, also cuts the feed to the AIC valve and also the [MAF sensor from memory] The fix , is to cut the feed wire to the AIC valve and connect the valve side to another ignition source. Hope this helps,Woody
  22. Hi , you should be able to start from cold, depending on the switch. Its probably got a temp sensor somewhereand this tells the switch when to cahnge fuel. One important thing, you stand a much greater chance of backfire starting from cold. Post some pics up of the switch and the system,i,ll see if i can guide tou through a diy tune up. cheers Woody
  23. Yes , ok normally you would be right, but single ppoint sytems for v8,s are cheap,so the payback is a lot quicker. Also he got the kit for zip, with the doner rangie. Keith
  24. Cant agree with steve-d,lpg on any engine makes sense especially a V8,my HILUX runs perfectly on LPG as does many of my off roading buddies. I dont know which type of lpg system you intend to use[single point or multipoint],i personally would go for a single point. 1, its simple to fit 2, its simple to maintain I had a 160 litre cylinder in my pick up, now its a tray back its only a 90 litre with a 60 litre petrol back up. if you need any info drop me a pm,lpg is my business . If Kelly has a look at this ,the rear mounted rad[out of a nissan primera 1800] worked spot on , no air locks and the gauge stayed put all day. cheers Woody
