  1. I would start with the cheap things first or i should say less labour intensive,

1, Is the thermostat working correctly

2, Is the rad covered in mud/leaves

3, Is the expansion tank cap ok

4, Have you got the correct anti freeze mix

5, Is the water pump squeeking leaking

6, Any external or internal leakage

7, Any water in the oil or oil in the water

My head gasket has gone and im in the throws of replacing it,easy job no real complicated things to get your head round and parts are cheap,it started of loosing coolent and not leaking anywhere, then the heater went stone cold then hot and i couldnt get rid of the air in the system,so off with its head and treated myself to a new rad as well.Hope you get it sorted mate.

    Cheers Peasy

Will spend a day going through the list and hope its something minor.

  2. Tonite my disco 96 300tdi overheated on motorway on way home - so pulled over to check problem.

Small amount of white smoke coming from fan area - loosened cap on filler tank - lots of gurgling - let engine cool and had car recovered home rather than risk any damage. No overheating experienced before but only had car 3 weeks.

Too dark to check anything as yet - but where should I start?

    Cheers in advance

  3. Simple answer is no - the stud pattern is different. You can use adaptors but they are F expensive.

Where have you seen 15" alloys for a Discovery? LR never made any such thing AFAIK... 16s on the D1, 16s and 18s on the D2 and 17/18/19s on the D3

what about 235x70x16 wrangler s4 tyres - 2nd hand on ebay at mo

    cheers

  5. £50, world crisis.... 30 minutes job actually, 60 minutes if you drink a beer.

Just got a little snow here in Kiev:) Western Ukraine is covered with snow totally in the mountains, just seen a video from there.

World crisis over - key fob shagged - auto electrician got fob working intermitently so had alarm and immobiliser bypassed - still have central locking and red alarm indicator light so happy enough - at least i can use the car!!

    Cheers for the help

  6. Sometimes you need 10-12 presses so if you have only done it four times as per the book I should give that another go first

    Hi bogmonster

Read your thread on the 'spider' so it aint that, have tried eka code (dealer supplied foc!) but door lock very worn so still immobilised - any suggesting before I spend £50 on an auto electrician?

    cheers

  7. I had similar situation. My keyfob just died:)

So if you can not start a car with EKA code - spider. If EKA helps - dead keyfob.

Must be spider as EKA code useless - quoted £50 by auto electrician to bypass - hows Kiev thia time of year - have family near Lviv

Is it a job I can easily do myself?

    Cheers

  9. Hi everone,

Just recently bought a manual 96 300 tdi fpr £700 which needs some tlc.

When i bought it the alarm fob was not working so just used key for access and starting. After changing a few fuses after fixing a couple of electrial problems the alarm started to work and was working fine apart from a couple of locks which are in need of motor repairs.

Well yesterday the fob will now not disable the car and hence the immobiliser is blocking the start of the car - have checked all the fuses and changed the fob battery - but still no luck. Checked car manual - no EKA code available.

Is there any other way of starting car without EKA code.

Your help would be much appreciated

    Cheers

    Jon
