  1. Do you know if stub axles, hubs, discs and calipers are the same or interchangeable? Thanks
  2. Hello, As the title says, what are the differences between Salisbury disc braked axles (hubs, stub axles, discs, calipers, etc)? I thought they were all the same, but today I found a Salisbury with the caliper support welded to the axle flange instead of the usual bolt in piece I was used to see... Any help on this? Thanks
  3. Hi there, Looking for a Salisbury front axle (coil sprung), if possible only the casing without internals and hubs... Where can I get these in the UK (I´me from Portugal). Cheers
  4. Hi, Have ordered a new ARB locker, and instead of the usual RD56, I got a RD128.. Is it a redesign rover unit from ARB?!

Well...maybe that is why mine smokes a lot...higher torque, less BHP. However I do not have larger intercooler...the guys overhere don´t get bigger intercoolers as they say it increases the lag in accelarating at low revs (what you need in offroading). I´ve got to give them credit on one thing....I really do not have any lag whatsoever, comparing to other remaped Td5s, which are very weak in low revs, but then have "power explosions"

I understand that...but many have the front propshaft removed so they can go to a 2wheel drive rolling road. However, as I´ve been told, not so reliable as it tends to have higher torque/BHP figures on these.

I´m sorry, my mistake, I´ve checked the rolling road print and max torque is at 2580 rpm... I also may be mistaken, but I thought max boost pressure was 1.1bar... I do admit I may be wrong on this... Will try to scan the rolling roads prints, it was made in a 4 wheel drive rolling road, so I understand it is more reliable than a 2 wheel drive!?!? The remap was made by a portuguese tuning company which deal mainly with diesel competition engines...

How about smoke?? I had my ECU chipped in Portugal, 179,5HP and 430Nm at 1750rpms. Everything else is stock, except the turbo boost, which is at 1.3. It does drive like a dream, however it smokes a lot more.
  9. Hi, I have just finished building a front set up for a 90 TruckCab using a Salisbury front coil axle. My intention putting this axle under the truck was never using OME shatfs and cv´s, because their pretty much standard AEU2522´s, and this usually brakes on regular rover axles with lockers. Instead I ended up using only the casing. I instaled a Dana 60 30 spline locker, custom 1.3" halfshafts mated to Longfield 30 Spline CV´s. I´ve used high strength alloy steel for the halfshafts (rated at about 1800Mpa Tensile Strength, which is in 300M steel standards). This is pretty much as strong as you can get with a Rover front end using standard swivel housings. I believe this could be very close to a standard 35 splined Dana60, but will let you know after testing it this weekend at Lousâ Camp, a Portuguese Competion. Can post pics if you want. Cheers, Ribeiro
  10. Hi, Well, you are all probably right, I believe something wasn´t right for them to brake. Nevertheless, considering I have to make custom drive flanges to suit both 30 (front) and 35 spline (rear) shafts, I will probably get them in 10 bolt patern, I think you can´t ever have to much strength...my only concern is regarding the hub resistance.... Thanks
  11. These cush drives are out of the question because the drive flanges are for 35 and 30 spline applications (putting Salisbury´s/Danas under the truck). Nevertheless, I´ve managed to brake the 5 bolts with Rover axles, so I believe the same can happen with these axles. Sorry for my english, but I can´t really understand your point (I don´t really master the english mechanical names, sorry) could you explain me what is "imperial bolts and hubs", "slotted metric drivemember", "metric hubs and studs"...Pictures would be absolutely perfect Thanks
  12. Hi, I´ve broken several times the 5 bolts on my drive flanges....I am considering on making some custom drive flanges, but with 5 extra bolts... As anyone did this mod? Will the hub have resistance troubles then?? Thanks

    Thanks, been very helpfull,

    Splines

I am aware of spline count...my question is regarding the norm of the 24 splines (spline profile, cut angle, etc) Off course getting some ashcroft ones would be easier....but not half the fun!
  15. HI, Looking on making my own halfshafts for my 90, and have put my hands on a book manual that mentions different kind of splines and norms...Didn´t understand if 24 spline LandRover is a "British Standard" norm, or some kind of DIN norm...Any help on this? Thanks
  16. Hello, Have a very annoing "clank" coming from my 2002 Defender 90 when I change gears...It has rear detroit locker, front truetrac, had new bushes fitted, but the clank won´t go away. I´ve noticed that if I turn centre diff lock on, the 90 goes smooth and the clank dissapears, when I turn it off, it appears again. Anyone??
  17. Hi, Any cheap solutions to convert rear Defender drum brake Salisbury to disc? Have looked at Zeus conversion, but way to expensive.
  18. Hi, Where can I get this ARB RD36. It´s a Dana60 35 spline locker, where in the UK I can get one?
  19. Hi, Well....actually that´s not my question, I am not confusing the Detroit Locker with the Truetrac. The question is, the truetrac diff has different part numbers for rear and front applications. what are the difference between them, and can a front truetrac go in the rear or vice versa! Thanks
  20. Hi, A friend of mine has a nice deal on a front truetrac diff. However he has open diff in the rear, so putting it in the rear would be better. Can he do that? What is the difference between rear and front truetracs?? Thanks
  21. Well, I must say these lads and their landie made a huge success here in Portugal (I am portuguese). People till now overhere didn´t believe you could drive anything related with LandRover the way they did. Quite impressive!! By the way, does anyone know the specs of this TomCat, namely what axles were they running!? Cheers
  22. I believe the longfield 30 spline version uses 1.3" shafts, aprox. the same as the Dana60 30 spline Diffs, I think!
  23. That´s my point. The rear salisbury is being worked that way. For the front, I am thinking on 1.3" 30 splines ARBs, 300M shafts and Longfields. I think I can get a very strong setup with this, don´t you? Or will the 101FC + disc conversion + welding and steering would come stronger/cheapper? Cheers
  24. Hi, Already have a Salisbury rear, so the front would be easier as I would only have to bolt it in. However, would be curious about those FC101 axles. Maverick, I ´ve PM you. Cheers
