  1. ok will check when i get home tonight, just bought it on a y plate 1 owner from new , fsh etc the guy used to take it up to the artic circle something to do with work etc done 176k, was thinking along the lines of the cv joints. its as if it goes 3/4 all the way but not the last quarter. you turn the wheel going in to a parking space only to find you dont make it and nearly the hit the car next to it!!! there is no clicking or strange noises either. cant hear the usual wheel bearing whine neither
  2. ive got a similar issue with mine spin the wheel round with your finger till you reach lock only to then find you are not on full lock, you have to pull the wheel with both hands helps if moving foward slightly. jacked vehicle up was going to release drop arm only to find it now reaches both full locks with finger. so with vehicle on ground it wont reach full lock unless you pull on the steering wheel hard vehicle up in air and it will spin round to full lock no problems any ideas as to what it is or do i need a new box? this is on my d2

  4. Im going camping nr lake Windermere for a week, ive never been up there before, does anyone know of any green lanes and tracks that are worth a look at. thanks Phil
  5. Kind of agree with you , but lest we not forget we are talking about a discovery 1 here, electronics and advancements in technology didnt really get considered with making the discovery 1 did it!!!!
  6. i had a very similar problem !!!! my area infront of my workshop is on a slight slope, i had just chopped the floor out in the boot ready for a replacement , as i was welding it in i noticed that the car had rooled forward as im kneeling in the back of it, initially i thought a mate had come up and rocked it whilst i was in the boot, so got out and pulled the handbreak up harder . no probems. then as i continued to weld it rolled forward again. bit worrying seeing as i was sat in the back doing the welding!!! On investigation i found out that somewhare along the lines when i was welding it must have burnt through the earth from the chassis on the body and had started to use the handbrake cable as the earth path. due to the current and heat generated this began to strech and hence car rolled away!!! So not only had i got to finish off the floor i also had to change the handbrake cable!!! Car no half in and out of the workshop, went to move it nothing indicators flash when ignition was turned on no start, push indicators and heater fan would come on!!! person I'm not that keen on thing!!! ended up moving it by putting a jump lead from the body on to the battery hey pesto everything back to normal. so a fix that worked for me was to puyt a new earth cable from thebody direct to the battery , never did find the burnt chassis to body earth!!!
  7. My Gear stick is now always lining up with 1st and 2nd , and is not centralising on 3rd and 4th , is this an easy fix or a hard one? assuming it might be a possible broken return spring?

  9. mine has a mountney steering wheel not sure about the boss bit but it fits on proper looking at it with out any mods!
  10. I welded a slighty curved plate say 3 x 4 inch onto the radius arms where the tyres touch , ive got qt castor corrected radius arms which are more like an i beam didnt want them to rip my nobbles off but allows at low speeds to get max lock!!

  12. Yep dax sure is quick running about 340bhp at present hopefully when i finish off my truck in the next month or so,with small investment of a new turbo and exhaust been promised figures around 440bhp !!! not bad in a car that weighs 600kg i thought!!!
  13. how about those 12 bore trip wire caps that you can get, ie if some one walks into a trip wire across a gate etc BANG off goes the 12 bore!!!, mount the device under the vehicle attach the trip line to a 12v solenoid via a switch, when you get in the vehicle you flick the switch and turn on the ignition and drive away, theif gets in the vehicle turns on the ignition without throwing the switch and hey presto you get a large bang put a few of these in with a timer and bang one goes every 10 seconds!!! BANG BANG BANG!!! that sure as hell would wake everyone up in a mile vicinty and hopefully the theif would be hot legging it down the road!!!, i know i wouldnt be hanging around in the middle of the night breaking in to a car with the sound of a 12 bore going off!!!!
  14. well its started out as a 3litre essex then went 3.5v8 then went 4.6 its on carbs money is spent !!! what makes you say it will bugger up been on the 500 for 3 years no problems. reason i say omex is that is what i have fitted to my dax rush with a cossie turbo in , and it flies !!!! strange they reckon megasquirt is cheap and nasty you reckon carbs are cheap and nasty , what is the best of the best?
  15. may be i do but not a lot of use for a 4.6 in a cave!!! Why cause its simple and it works, very little to go wrong!!! RPI 4.6 stage 3 heads vernier timing gear piper cams weber 500 mallory una lite the list goes on!!!!and on lpg!!! petrol 93 lpg 112 no quibbles really!!!
  16. am liking it but think i got a lot of work to do first running 4.6 v 8 on carbs
  17. question? does the 30cm from the door pillar still get included on a lr ie regarding the fact that the shell is not a structual component of the vechicle ie shell is bolted onto structual chassis as opposed to the likes of a say car where the shell incorporates the chassis?
