have fitted a new gearbox and put the transfer case back on, have a new cross drilled input gear and the bearings are fitted and I have replced both the races. now the fun starts, have been searcing the forums and reading all sorts much conflicting regarding do you need to check/change shims or not. I would prefer to get it right now rather than have it all go wrong after as i have a long trip planned.
I dont have much idea about endfloat preload ect and have never used a dial test indicator. can anyone give me a plain language idiots guide for the uneducated so I can get this right? Also is there much difference between the actual dial test guages or are they all the same sort of thing?
