  1. deeper now. first time ive ever been stuck in a flat field oopsy daisy comes into mind
  2. weve got an 08 one, its a bit different to the 1999 one. all in all its not a bad truck, not quite as good as a landy though only problem being that its towing capacity is 2.7 tonnes not 3.summat like the land rovers are or is it 5 and 3 quarters for a disco mikey
  3. in my local TBF i was waiting fo a bearing and i soptted a magnetic worklamp on the shelf, its a little battery powered multi LED light, and it has a hook aswell as a magnet because land rovers are mostly ali mikey
  4. why dont you just spin the rim round on the hub so its backwards and then weld little centering cones onto the base of the studs. quicker, cheaper, safer IMO mikey
  5. around 6". and thats where i flattened it in the yard at 2 o clock this afternoon im gettng good at 360 spins on the quad whilst moving along up to a foot in some places in derbyshire mikey
  6. ive got my front axle in pieces today but last time we had a bit of snow, my insa saharas actually got up a 45 degree hill in 3 inches of snow and it was planted on the drive (we have a big drive) but the tractors struggled to pull a milk tanker (empty) across the flat. mikey
  7. we shall liberate some emery cloth from engineering at school mikey
  8. a little O/T but have any of you had any ideas on what to get and where from for extended breathers? mikey
  9. WOW. i like it i might try that one day when i can be bothered to do such a thing, i just make extremely lucky guesses mikey
  10. thats the passenger side rear quarter and the big black thing you see in the edge of the pic is a heavy duty bumper. i dont think its too close lmao
  11. me = cheap and cheerful. i just screwed an old ammo box to the 1" thick rubber matting in the back of my disco 1, where the passengers side rear seat should be. it is perfect and you can still fold down the boot seats, i dont have a picture but it is a very good fit, also you can store small things like c/b ariels down the small gap inbetween the arch and the box. also i am going to use the satbelt of a boot seat to retain a 20l jerry can, this will be aswell as the seat but i have not got a jerry can yet, as i have not had he chance to buy one.
  12. i did this to 2 of my steel wheels, one of my disco steels and one of my defender spares both were sorted with a big lump hammer god forvives but rocks dont after i used some gentle persuasion with a 10lb lump hammer
  13. like this sorry , couldnt help myself all i could hink of has already been said but the main cause would be the bushes, it might be worth investing in polybushes or something similar. mikey
  14. im considering a straight through middle box replacement but leaving the rear silencer, my disco hasnt got a cat as its a 200tdi, how much would a replacement pipe cost? mikey
  15. in which case, what actually activates the Diff lock if it has no lever? jw mikey
  16. i always do it without gloves, in fact i find the place where it burns the most is right in the crotch area nice truck, mine is similar but blue and without the lift. snapped a halfshaft on the front today though mikey
  17. if it doesent have diff lock it will have automatic traction control it could be this kicking in if it thinks you are about to loose traction. although my dads 2003 disco 2 doesent have this light, that has an orange light that says "T.C" i think mikey
  18. in another thread i was reading, i was lead to this link which i think is pretty important, i dont know if there are any other threads giving this exact link. but i think that this affects every single one of us on this forum site and all other land rover forums, by 2010 we might not even have the right to repair/modify our own cars anymore and i think i speak for all land rover owners when i say that this is unacceptable. heres a link to their main page: http://www.r2rc.co.uk/landing/index.htm and their petition: http://www.r2rc.eu/petition.php?lang=en please sign it and help to make a difference, i have, and ive emailed it to everyone that will sign it in my e mail contacts. cheers mikey
  19. to me it looks like an 86" the arches give it away because they are closer to the front of the vehicle than an 80" and it has vents in the bulkhead which older ones didnt have. not sure about the year though. mikey
  20. the handbrake drum is a completely seperate system and therefore wouldnt affect the brake pedal, it sounds to me like the pistons might be siezed, i know what oli is trying to say because i drove it the other day and they are rock solid, ineffective and you have a job to stop in time. mikey
  21. sorry im thick and didnt quite understand that could you possibly simplify it for me cheers mikey
  22. cheers, ill probably take purchase in a more standard shock then, will 110 shocks fit it or are the mounts different? mikey
  23. my rear shocks need replacing, i was considering some pro comp +2" shocks will it lift my landy as i dont really need it lifted, i just want more articulation. is it the springs that lift it and will i need dislocation cones to guide my standard springs back in place? cheers mikey
