Well on Sunday I fitted my new steering pump (ntc9070)and both drive belts while I was at it all went well and I even managed to stay dry lying underneath the 90 …Until I decided to increase the tension on the pump belt and one of the bloody silly tapering headed flange bolts rounded like it was made from Cheddar…bugger. However checking again the deflection, I think it’s right at about 10-12mm so no need to undo that bolt yet but I have just got some of those IRWIN Bolt-Grips and hope they will get the damned thing out.
Why do they fit the pump with seemingly tapered headed bolts, the flange bit I can understand but tapering what’s that about?
