  1. Possibly a failure of the VCV on the fuel pump. Easy to change, costs about £120, but requires recalibration. Andy
  2. Defender on chains is very good in the white stuff.
  3. Have you checked, changed injector wiring harness? Andy
  4. There is a lot of knowledge on http://www.defender2.net/forum/ About the Tdci engine. Andy
  5. Try reset. Disconnect battery, touch both neg and pos cables together, rewire battery, and retry.
  6. Sounds like an immobiliser problem. Andy
  7. Yes. As written above. Rewired ECM to pedal assembly. Problem solved. Andy
  8. Yes mate. Can't find the rest of the posts I wrote about it. History does not appear to go far enough back. Andy

  10. As above. Rewire ECM to pedal. Very common problem but easily solved, and not costly. Andy
  11. I would think your master or slave cylinder has failed. Check fluid level. Andy

  13. I've have had, and is now very common for the wires that go from the ECM (under drivers seat) to throttle pedal to get damaged due to them rubbing through the insulation. The easiest way yo deal with this is to rewire the pedal direct from the ECM to pedal. When I had this problem I listed it all in the defender section. Have rewired 4 Td5s now. Andy
  14. Yes very common to leak there. It also hides the leak by getting so hot and evaporating the water, so normally is found via the smell. Andy
  15. My warn with a shot motor sold on eBay for £440, even though it was listed as not working and sold as spares or repair. Then brought a TDS which David knocked the vat off, so was a great deal. That's the route I would recommend to you. Andy
  16. My old truck used to do this, worse in the cold. Fitted new drivers door actuator, then solved. Andy
  17. Do you get any noise when it doesn't start? Try doing fuel purge before trying to start. See if that improves starting. Andy
  18. You can also fit a the td5 wading plug which is a 3/8 square drive instead of silly torx plug. I found it made it easier. I also fill the heads with grease so they don't fill with mud. Andy
  19. Agree with above. I have hd drive flanges that I load with grease and look after. I've gone for mid market set, not mega kit, but they also provide a larger surface area onto the shafts. Andy
  20. Agree with above, go direct to Drew for a price It's a beast to wrestle the foot section in on a Tdci. But is good Let me know if you want Drew's contact details. Andy
  21. Problem is you've fitted a Britpart one. They are poo. Never fit anything Britpart. If your td5 goes better with MAF disconnected, then your MAF is knackered, BUT only replace with main dealer part, semiens one, or Alive tuning do uprated ones at a good price. . Andy
  22. I found silicon was not strong enough, and is eaten by brake cleaner, so I used a PU sealer on mine, when I had it fitted. Andy
