  1. Nice one! thanks guys, top replies!
  2. Ah, ok thanks, hopefully thats it then? I wiped the oil of it, ran it up for a while then had another look, and it looks like it leaks from where the pump casing meet, which don t look repairable! any idea how much they cost?? ta
  3. Anyone know if it is possible for oil to be leaking from the brake vaccuum pump situated on the RHS of the block on a 300 tdi engine. It seems to be coming from the casing of the pump not the actual mating surface of the block where the gasket is??? thought oil was leaking from rocker cover but done that and not sure now??? any ideas appreciated ,thanks
  4. nice one western, thats the photo i was gonna take!! i have taken some of the dash out, i will now do the rest and try and expose the little bhlighters!! cheers Rob
  5. Walfy, yeah it is the engine side. if i manage to get the bolt out, i'm assuming the rivnut will need to be replaced/secured from spinning, is there any way to do this??
  6. western, no nut to be seen! it seems the captive nut is inside the box section of the bulkhead! i will take some pics tomorrow, as i dont think i have explained it very well! cheers
  7. Help, anyone with a bright idea!! i noticed the steering column seemed a bit loose, side to side movement from the steering wheel, anyway turns out when the previous wner replaced the bulkhead he didnt do all the bolts up that secure the top part of the steering column to the bulkhead. one of the bolts ( there are four in total) screws into a captive nut in the bulkhead, the bolt will not tighten because the capive nut is spinning. i dont know how to get it out and more importantly how i'm going to get a good fixing here anyone come across a problem like this?????? cheers Rob
  8. dont know where to start. Bought my defender 200 tdi about 4 months ago. Noticed there was no air filter so promptly fitted one. about a month later oil started leaking out of intercooler pipes. I noticed an oil catch tank in the engine bay(not plumbed in) asked the bloke about it and he told me it wasnt needed as a recon turbo, head and new breather had been fitted. so i hoped he had just forgotten to clean out the intercooler. i did this and all the pipes thoroughly. about a month later same problem. a boost gauge is fitted and its running up to 0.8 bar. Smoke screw seems to have been correctly adjusted as i get black smoke on full throttle. I really want to get this engine sorted cos it drives really well. incidently when you take off oil filler cap there seems to be a fair bit of pressure, same at the dipstick. help appreciated cheers Robbo
