  1. Yes thank you I have seen these also, my advice was to to use them as if the inner cable in knacked, the outer cable will have damage also. I have had it replaced by my local independant Land Rover guy...cost me just short of £190.00 OUCH. That was for a brandnew complete regulator including motor....Ihope! Thank you for your input, I could not risk the time to fit one myself, so I had to pay....through every orifice! Canon can
  2. Hello everybody. I spent the weekend gloating that over the last twelve months my TD4 has ran like a dream but this evening all that changed...Probably not quite that dramatic! The N.S.Front window came down with a horrible grating noise and never went back up. It turned out the the cable had needled and got taffled up and eventualy snaped! One problem was instantly solved, it ment I could prop the window in the closed position. But the unknown problem for me is...what the hell do I do next? Is it a DIY job, What do I neeed in the way of parts and what is the likley cost? I will be pleased to hear from any one who has had the same problem and was able to solve it or any one who knows about these things. Thank you Canon Can (I hope)
  3. Hi Mark, Thank you for your input. I have not had the panel off but that will be a job for the weekend. I will let you know the out come. Thanks again Richard.
  4. Hi all, I have a funny noise when I turn on the air con on my 2000 TD4. It is a growl and is louder and more noticable as I deaccelerate. Can any one point me in the right area of the problem please? Canon can (and will)
  5. Hi All. This may sound like a daft question so sorry if it is..... It is regarding the IRD and the transmision. Is the Freelander a constant four wheel drive? OR is the drive throught the front (or rear) wheels and then if the going gets sticky do the rear (or front) wheels then automatically go into drive mode? Or am I miles away? Rustymark, will my X reg TD4 have had this modifacation done? Canon can (always trying to learn a bit more)
  6. Hi All, Job done!! Parts came as promised. part No SEE100340 are the correct ones for my vented discs and the pins are the same as I took out. One long one and one shorter one with the rubber end....so it looks like mine was not bodged after all. Strange how the unexpected throws you! Thanks Les for the part numbers, much appreciated, where can I get part number information? And Thanks to Rustymark for your help also, The pin with the rubber bit did go to the bottom, spot on and thanks again. I now hope to get many more miles of trouble free motoring from my Freelander. Canon can (And did with a little help)!
  7. Hi All, Thank you for the part numbers Les, they are now ordered, should be with me tomorrow, (Friday) Fingers crossed as they are coming from Stratstone! I am suprised that the pins are differant as explained by Rustymark, I thought that my Freelander had been bodged! But it seems that the twin walled disc's take differant pins to the soild discs. Just a couple of questions....does it matter which pin goes in the top?? I can not remember which came from where...DER! And the second question ....is there a comprehensive parts catalogue availible on line or as a down load off the web or any where?? Thank you all for your input Canon can (and will)
  8. Hi Andy. Thank you for your reply, it is all stripped down again. This time one of the slidder pins was stuck solid!!! The two pins are different with one being shorter. The longer one looks original and was rusted when I stripped it down first time, it has three flutes along the length which I can imagine to stop it hydraulicing when greased. This evening the shorter and newer pin was absolutley solid and would not come out or slide but would turn. I belive it hydrauliced which possibley caused this latest problem, may be the grease I used was to heavy, (it was C.V. joint grease). If I have done it right, there will be a photo of the two pins. The question is.....which one should be in there and which is the wrong one if any. Would you or any one else suggest I get matching pins but which ones? Canon can (and will)
  9. Hi all, I am a new guy to this forum and to a Land Rover. The front N/S brake does not realese and gets so hot that it smokes and stinks. I stripped it down and found one of the slider pins seized. I cleaned it well and lubricated it, and rebuilt. That appeared to cure it until last week when I felt the brakes coming on after only about 5 miles or so. I stripped it down again this time I worked the piston with a G clamp, it did return. It was built back up again but the next evening after about 5 miles the brakes came on again and got very hot and smelly again. The questions are, Is this a regular problem with the Freelander? What is the cause and the cure? My next move is to replace the piston, that is if it can be replaced. OR could it be some thing else? I would certainly appreciate all help and guidance from you guys out there. Oh all the other three corners are fine. Thank you in anticipation Canon can (and will) if he can find the spel cheker!
