Spotted on eBay it's even in Southampton.
Thanks I did see that but it's still over £1k in parts because you'd do the rings, mains etc while it's a bare block. I could do that with the one I took out (was my back up plan) but can't really afford that at the moment and there's a risk it needs machining.
What I'm getting is a running engine I can just put in. Then rebuild one of mine when time and finances permit.

On the basis there is no sump below or timing chest to the right it's either not a 200/300 or it's not the crank pulley. Could it be the steering pump pulley? It doesn't look like a vee belt either.

Unfortunately that's out of my budget what with the mods required to fit it. But @TSD might still be interested and we might be travelling to Suffolk for a 200tdi in a couple of weeks.

Ok now I'm tempted.....

@miketomcat reckon you could persuade TSD to do a swapsie for a functioning 200?
His is a 300. The only reason I'm not jumping on it is it's no less work than fitting a td5. Mind until I sort a replacement it's sat there doing nothing.

That's tempting, I'm not sure it's a good idea but definitely tempting.

I did have one but I can't find it at the moment.

@TSD Because work was further away than where it broke and I figured getting further away is not a good thing.

I *think* that is a 130 clutch plate. I definitely fitted a 130 plate when I built the truck however the engine and gearbox have been changed since then and can't remember which clutch went back in as I have a lightly used clutch in the workshop as a spare.

I tend to use a kneeling mat myself as I've never got on with knee pads. I know that's not what you asked but just another option.

No idea didn't get it home till dark and by then it was raining. If the weather plays I'll try to pull the engine over the weekend then I can start making decisions.
I'll also try and get the swivels and cv's done as at least that will be one thing off the list.

Did Ross @landroversforever sell the 200 out of his project? Or did that happen a long long time ago?
Yes I had that engine years ago and that one snapped a cam pulling of the drive in our 110. Sold it on as parts about 5 years ago.
Given current developments and a lack of disco 200's I am starting to lean towards buying a td5 disco to strip. But it's academic until I've finished the job that'll pay for some of it.

Damper has been removed and the slave is td5 from memory, there's no fluid loss in the master. It's also worth noting it's a V8 box on a diesel so it's possible the splines have let go, but It feels to me more like the arm has punched through. When I get it home I'll pull the slave but I suspect the engine is coming out and possibly the gearbox. Looks like I'll be borrowing the mother-in-law's bike For now.

Don't know yet, the clutch pedal went stiff ish coming off the motorway. Couldn't find any gears, managed to get it back into fifth and found a car park. A colleague has picked me up for work so I'll go and get it home tonight.

Well, you'll never believe this......
The clutch went on the way to work this morning.
So it looks like the engines coming out sooner than planned.

Probably not.
Unlikely, disco engines range from about £400-£1k complete. The block is only worth about £150 and the head is more valuable to me as a spare. It's about £1k in parts to do a freshen up and that's assuming no machining is required.
