  1. I've been told by a bettery supplier that a 50amp red top battery is equivalent to a 100amp lead acid so would assume the same for the 75amp yellow, so I guess it would be equivalent to around 150amp. I can vouch that a 50amp red top will start a Cummins 6bt from cold like it's an A series. Mike
  2. So that's why the light didn't work. However they weren't producing power either. ⚡ Mike
  3. They definitely did a HD 110 chassis as we saw a couple in build on the factory tour. It had extra plating top and bottom from memory. The hamburger one looks longer behind the rear wheel the battenburg not so much. Mike
  4. Minimum size for spraying would be 50ltr and CFM the highest you can get 14 plus for tools really. As for welder mig, tig or arc? I've had an old murex arc for years because it was cheap and has the least kit/expense on consumerables, but less than 2mm plate is tricky. Mike
  5. Another vote for d&f, mine aren't wide angle but I paid around £200 for two special length props 7 years ago. The props have been in use for 5 years and around 50k miles, I have replaced several uj's but I'm not very good at remembering to grease them and the sliders are still fine. Mike
  6. The small part of Sicily I've seen (boat related) is lovely you'll love it. Go! Mike
  7. Is that to see the wood through the trees. Sorry I'll get my coat. Sounds like a good trip. We have a trip in the very loose planning. Down to Italy, boat to Greece (to see my step brother), up to Bulgaria (to see father-in-law) and home. When and how long is another matter. Mike
  8. It's pre SVA I suspect and that makes it less appealing as it won't be tax exempt. I don't need another project and a rusty one at that. Mike
  9. Oi I am still on here...... Wife's already said NO, mind since the mother-in-law's been down another bike is looking likely. Mike
  10. Glad to hear you're mostly back upright. As ever you know where we are if there's anything we can do and you're always welcome including the girls. Glad daisy is making a recovery, whilst completely different Katherine has had struggles which could of ended similar so if you think it would help..... Mike
  11. We have the waeco version and I can confirm it draws 3.5amps when running. Mike
  12. Ironically it's not until you take it to a proper campsite that you realise actually how small it is. There was about 6 other caravans of similar size the other 40 odd were either bigger or absolutely massive. It also proved our point of how antisocial normal caravans are we were the only nutters sat outside. Mike
  13. This is along the lines of what we want but in canvas and a little bigger. We are quite happy to make our own as we have poles that will create the shape and had a play with various pole positions whilst we had the basher up. Mike
  14. We've ruled out all of the land rover style awnings as they simply won't work with what we have or want. It needs to be 4m long 2.5-3m wide and mount at 2.5-2.6m high and still clear the door around 2-2.1m at 5he top. It needs to be fully enclosable and canvas because we plan to use the wood burning stove in there. We've seen some caravan/motorhome awnings that might work. Mike
  15. None of the land rover style awnings are tall enough our mounting rail is 2.5m off the ground. Mike
  16. The only other interesting vehicle at the campsite. Only two wheel drive and 6.5tons, the box wasn't much bigger than ours but it was just a guy and his dog. I suspect he's a van lifer as his pitch was a seasonal but didn't ask. Our trailer worked very well obviously cooking was all in the back of the ibex and toilet was a porta loo (the site has no facilities). The awning was just a basher tied to the roof and held up on fibreglass poles. Again it worked well but was very temporary, it did however allow us to work out how we want the awning to work. There are a few off the shelf awnings that might work but most seem to be airbeam (I'm not a fan) and polyester rather than canvas (we want canvas due to using the wood burner). Quick view of the aero mods. Mike
  17. It definitely felt better. Though we've only towed it at unto 40ish and for under 10 miles. Mike
  18. I've towed a 12tonner off the Weir at beaulieu as no one could see to get past it safely, straight pull up the road to the hotel. Also extracted a nipper from a hedge on a roundabout because I felt sorry for him, he was very curtious and greatful. But generally these days it's only interesting vehicles as the owners tend to be like minded. Mike
  19. I've got to make a front/doors for the wardrobe and doors for the overhead lockers. Plus a load of oak trims for all the apertures, oh and at least two more coats of varnish. Then it's back to fibreglass work for the shower cubicle. Mike
  20. Fitted. Picture of aforementioned cave locker. And toilet bulkhead temporary fitted. Also managed to get the first coat of varnish on the bare timber. Mike
  21. My ibex confirms all this. The ibex has a shorter, higher overhang at the front than our 110 and is much worse for spray on the windscreen. In fact it's so bad that when I first built mine I had to ask TSD if his was as bad, because I thought I'd done something wrong. So the only way to fix the problem is to fill the gap between the body and ground with more bodywork much like most other 4x4's , which completely defeats the point of owning a defender. Mike
  22. Alterations to the panel by the switches. Basically just two cave lockers to create somewhere to put phone/tablets etc while on charge. Another thing that's been annoying me is that I made the bed frame to wide and didn't allow for the window frame. I've cut 50mm off the bed frame and extended the support on the wall. Also made some overhead lockers to go above my bed this also covers the aluminium door frame from the original roller shutter door. We had a little condensation on this at Silverstone so I wanted to cover/insulate it. Ready to be fitted. Mike
