  1. I followed some of that build. It's an incredible build, the manor in which he went about it was inspiring. He basically kept cutting and shutting till he got the shape he wanted. Mike
  2. It did make me miss my tomcat more. Personally I think it's the perfect daily driver. Mike
  3. I came across this and kinda like it.... https://www.scarbovintage.com/svrover Mike
  4. Yes it is wise to rise the tank breather as well. This can be troublesome on hardtops and csw's as you don't want either the axle or tank breathers inside. Mike
  5. Our 110 was a 2.25 diesel converted to disco 200tdi. The guage as far as I can tell is original but we did swap the sender to a defender version to get it to read correctly. The one thing I will say is I wouldn't bank on them being accurate but once you have established it's not doing anything silly it settle in a set position for normal running ours is just over halfway on the guage which then gives you a baseline. Mike
  6. The windscreen and rear door look to be different so I doubt an alucab would fix, however from memory the roof on the ps10 is fibreglass which lends itself to modification quite well. Picture stolen off the internet for reference. Mike
  7. Unfortunately someone let the accountants loose years ago. Which means every company must make as much profit as possible, instead of doing a good job and just making a living. Thus everything is made down to a price and this is what we all expect whether we agree/like it or not. Mike
  8. The bolts can wear even when they appear tight. Mine was about 2mm down on diameter when I found it, it had no visible movement by hand but I guess 2 ton of truck has a bit more grunt. Mike
  9. Apart from the crippling fuel cost. As with all V8 options. Mike
  10. Your engine is considerably cleaner and more leak free than either of mine. I get a diesel smell when the injector spill pipes split and hot exhaust/turbo smell when I open only the front sliding window as it creates a vacuum in the cab. It's worse in the ibex because it has a hole in the floor for the winch rope. My point here is I have holes in the floor of both trucks so unless your exhaust is leaking or the exhaust finishes under the body you shouldn't have a problem. Try driving with the heater fan running and the windows shut this should pressurise the cab and stop the fumes from entering. If it does it would suggest you have an exhaust leak somewhere. Mike
  11. That is the best thing you can do to a BMW mini at least it's not pretending to be anything. Fridge when do we start..... Mike
  12. I too am curious as to what they do and what are the benefits. Mike
  13. I've used the por15 kit on the second tank on the 110 about 8 years ago. I used it inside and outside (even though they don't recommend it outside) it sealed the weeping seams and is still fuel tight. I would happily recommend it. Mike
  14. I'm still interested assuming I can join the dot's. Mike
  15. Disco master and servo can be made to fit but essentially they don't. There's no need to change the master it works fine you just may have a little more travel. I did mine with 200 hubs and 300 calipers/brackets. Depending on what disc you use you may need caliper spacers as mentioned. There is a list of parts I used buried in my ibex thread but it may take some finding. Mike
  16. Buy a hard top from foers and paint it a more pleasing colour, it would still be reasonable money. Mike
  17. I'll apologise as it's on faceache. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/Ff57c1b3KEuDKVUH/ The jist for those that don't. Foers ibex f8 250 soft top. £15,950 which is cheap given you couldn't build one for that price. It is a fairly low spec but it'll still run rings round a defender. Yes I am biased 😝 Mike
  18. I have Freelander seats in the ibex (would be a pain to fit in a 110), standard defender in the 110. The ibex seats are now covered with genuine land rover seat covers and I wish I'd bought them years ago. The 110 seats have Exmoor foams up front, the rears are their high back model bought for a song because they were the batch of rubbish clothe that fell apart, the previous owner had them replaced and was told to bin the old ones. All of ours have seat covers, I find them comfortable. I'm 6'3" and happily drive either car to Scotland. I can't stand leather or plastic seats, I find them slippery, hot in the summer and cold in the winter. I've sat in Ed's 110 and whilst the RR seats are very comfortable my height means they wouldn't work for me. Personally I didn't notice any difference between standard defender and puma seats when I spent rather a long time in fridgefreezer's ambulance. My two pence is fit the standard seats and sell the others. Mike
  19. This world throws away many repairable and recyclable items. 80% of my home is recycled, my car is recycled, my wife's car is repaired/recycled. We as a family (especially my wife) are passionate about reuse, so yes I'm a fully qualified womble. Mike
  20. The bad news is it's not eligible for tax/MOT exempt till April 25. Our 110 was registered may 83 and I can apply shortly. Mike
  21. Over the years I've fished a Makita 6" battery skill saw (duff brushes), a 240v Fein saw (supplied parts to fix mine) and a Makita battery angle grinder (couldn't find anything wrong) out of the metal skip. So Stephen your not alone. Mike
  22. Everyone else has been using two car battery's and a set of jump leads for years.... Mike
  23. Fantastic job Stephen, love your work on this. Mike
