  1. Yeah no way i'm putting that hook in my machine, its s big bugger.
  2. Well thats my brake spring, dont think it should be that shape. I dont even know what shape it should be to try and make one... Problem is i've found it devilshly difficult to get T-max parts. I think Bearmach used to be, thats how i got a motor last time. I've found that BHW do some t-max winches in the UK, bu they dont have spares for this one, and inform me that there have been 2 brake revisions since this, requiring a modded drum 🙄 I'm tapping up and aussie contact, as thats where t-max are from. I still dont understand how that could cause freespool though.
  3. No, pin is fine and the sleeve is moving correctly. On reassembling its just the item 5 fibre thrust washer i'm confused on, only 1 is shown in the diagram, but i have 2.
  4. So mine went clunk and was permanently in freespool. I thought the motor linkange had snapped (it did that before and i had it welded), but no. I took the gearbox apart and everything is fine in there, except some very old packed grease. So I disassebled the GB and washed the old grease out. Bit of a mystery that nothing is broken, but i thought i'd regrease it and reassemble. Which is the point where i wish i'd taken photos. The exploded diagram i have, and several more ive found since dont exactly match my version. I can work out pretty much how it goes, but i have 2 fibre thrust washers which i'm not sure of the correct positions - anyone know? And any ideas why it wouldnt go into drive or brake when nothing is broken inside? (attached the closest diagram i can find)
  5. I cant remove the hook, its fitted and i didnt want to deform the rope, thats why i was thinking dishwasher - it'll give a good clean but not twist it up
  6. Have given mine a bath in the sink with some fairy liquid, and its got most of the dirt out. Then i stood there an pondered sticking it in the disher washer on a low temp.... Whats the consensus on that?
  7. My R-tech AC/DC has been great, still learning but a great value TIG IMHO
  8. PLA is not great in harsh enviroments. It degrades / defoms with heat and sunlight. You'd be better using PETG for the final parts.
  9. The advantage of EP90 is that it also keeps the missus away
  10. More importantly who would name their kid Hadrian? ... Unless it was a family of bricklayers
  11. Poor tyres, and i would not be trying that on my tarmac drive.
  12. There was already a thread for this, allthough everyone replied in yours not mine , i wont take it pesonally 😛 Mods you can delete mine if you like.
  13. 12 inches, but i don't use it as a rule.
  14. Marketplace – Land Rover Chassis Business | Facebook Nothing to do with me, just spotted on FBM.
  15. As metioned i didnt want cut & glued seals, and i do like the one piece astheically.
  16. Original windscreens are square corners, dont want to cut & glue off the shelf seals, so round corners. Have a Plexi template window temporarily, then will get a custom winscreen made up. The originals are impossible to get anyway.
  17. With the aid of 2 things in my workshop that i've wanted for a long time.
  18. Ok some progress. Since i needed to replace the windscreens anyway, i've been pondering for some time to replace the 2-piece split screen with one piece. A few others have done it and it makes the truck look about 20 years newer. So this involved cutting out the central divider, and making corner pieces. Good old-fashioned paper template methods employed Inner corner fillets hacked out of some 3mm steel. A rather large lump of metal turned into smaller bits and several enormous brillo pads. will get these welded in by a tame welder mate.
  19. Well I've finally got the truck back to the UK, but dont yet have a garage, so work is limited to good days on the drive. And some of what you see above has once more been redesigned, as out of the blue someone fairly local to me wanted to sell a radio body, in fact one that had had some nice mod work done to it - rear door removed and the body extended. I snapped that up. So cue demounting the underslung frame (Which i was worried compromised the break-over angle anyway) and fettling a few bits to mount the std body. I'm now deep in rewiring it again as i had the fuse/relay box on the rear cab wall, and thats now a passthrough to the rear cabin. I'll post some pics over the weekend.
  20. I just moved my truck back from France, i tried shiply but like others have said it was either stupidly high quotes or idiots. In the end i decided to do it myself, hired a trailer and booked onto the truck ferry via freightline. In my case i also had to do the customs paperwork, but after a lot of searching i found an excellent agent that did all of it for a resonable price, including the french exit documents. (Brunel European) Freight ferry is great, works out way cheaper, and you get a free truckers lounge lunch. Only fly in the oinkment, was the trailer hire guy called me 4 days before and told me the last customer had written-off his trailer. Couldnt find a replacement in time so had to buy a trailer last minute. 2.5t twin-axle for sale if interested edit: a lot of trailer hire companies dont let theirs outside the uk as for europe the trailer needs its own reg document, and most just dont want the hassle of getting one even though it only costs 25 quids with DVLA. You need to get separate trailer insurance, as in EU its covered separately from the car. I registered mine and got a 1 week insurance. If you need help with customs details PM me.
  21. Hi All, Thanks for all of your suggestions. Fortunately i've managed to get the original bolts.
