  1. I found my drivers footwell soaked thru a few weeks ago, just after the autumn rains started! sealed the gutters with silly cone sealant - not pretty but does the job! carpets not drying out so investigated further. found that water was getting in at the top of the front wing. temporary measure was to get a can of waxoyl from halfrauds and sprayed everything in site. one tip is to removed the small plastic shield at the top of the front wing. makes it easier to get a good spray of wax in there. now have nice dry carpets!!! Also found true LR build quality trying to get the front wing off. a job much easier than i thought it was going to be! anyhoo trying to remove the top bolt of the wing, accessed when the door is open, it was just spinning. turns out whoever put it in didn't let go of the trigger on his windy gun soon enough and had stripped the bolt threads. much levering with a screwdrive got it out tho' clunk
  2. Thanks, Roger i'll keep me eye on that one then!!
  3. RT, would you have a link to your ebay shop?? I cant search for it using the shop search. Shame, really as my local thought police wont let me access your website either. i think they may be trying to tell me something!! chrs clunk
  4. Hmmm! As I've only just created an Ebay account this is all a bit worrying! I was bidding for a mig welder but its jumped up about 60 notes overnight so i'll drop out of that one. Maybe the only benefit of living in Ireland is the fact that the ebay call centre is on the next corporate estate over from mine!! should help if ever i need to complain. clunk
  5. Trev, yes they are. I did mine last summer. they have frames that are handed so if you unbolt the frame from the floor, 4 bolts each with the outside bolts having nuts behind the cill. loads of your chosen nut free-er. when you have the seats out you will see the bolts holding them to the frame. should only take an hour or so. it does make the adjust knob a bit fiddly to reach but other than that no probs clunk
  6. I've never taken a LR clock apart before but if its similar to most then it should unscrew to get to the internals. It should then be possibe to manually rotate the rollers individually until you have 9 showing on all of them. then one more rotation will effectively bring it 'around the clock' and back to zero. all the rollers are connected by a small tag - WARNING! DONT TAKE THEM APART AND DONT ASK HOW I KNOW THAT!!!- so if you start at the tenths of a mile roller and then work over to the left it should work. easier than the drill method! And if the thought police are around, er, um I, ah, read that in a book somewhere clunk
  7. IMO Its all when and good to have these electronic aids fitted and working to an off road vehicle but does it take away some of the skill of actually 'driving' a course? i'm not against these aids as they do help in other situations. but i like to drive my disco the way i want to and not the way some geeky programmer thinks i should. electronics? Pah, it'll never catch on! clunk
  8. So XR650 gets about 620 ish miles to a tank. I cant see my mileometer being 'that' far out as to make so much of a difference. only things i do are change gear at about 2500 ish rpms, i generally drive at about 55 - rarely take it to 70+ for long periods, change the oils regularly and bung a bit of veg oil in the tank as a weak blend (helps keep the soot down!) i recalculated that during my working week commute i get around 500 from the brim to the light, but this still works out at around 33-34 mpg clunk and whatever anyone says to the contrary i'm still more than happy with that!
  9. Just my 2p's worth. I've just worked out on my 200tdi with r380 box on a run i can get around 600 miles. so by filling from flashing light to full is around 72 litres gives about 38 to the gallon. 235/70 road biased tyres drops to 550 to the tank doing the daily commute but still not too bad clunk
  10. I believe Matt Savage does there here hope this helps clunk
  11. Mark, sorry, i did mean motor. after all why spend all that cash on a vehicle that'll go just about anywhere, and then walk?? same when i had me motorbike. all that dosh and pedal??? i think not!!
  12. Mark, if you have the original end fittings then go to your local bike shop. they can cut the braided hose to any length required and then re-fit the original ends. if they're decent enough they may even have stainless fittings as well. braided hose itself is actually quite cheap by the roll but the cost is pushed up by the cost of fittings. mate of mine runs his own bike shop up in Nairn NE scotland in case you were wondering. no, didn't thinks so hth clunk
  13. Hi all, just made it over here so its me first post - BTW ta to Trev for the link. Anyhoo, on to the main question. I have seen/heard a lot about home-made snorkels for Defenders etc but not many for Disco's. I 'may' have a supply of 3 inch stainless pipe available for the contruction of a mantec style snorkel for mine, I'll have to pop down the Mr. MasseyFerg for the mushroom top. What I need to iknow is how much space is available between the inner and outer wings? Ideally someone who has taken the front of their disco apart would be able to give me an idea, Nige I'm looking at you!! As the actress says, is a 3" diameter enough or is there room for anymore? My thoughts are to get a bit long enough to be able to bend it to follow the windscreen all the way to the airbox with the minimum amount of joins, a single piece would be ideal but i thing the radii would be too severe. any one care to comment? TIA clunk aka clunk on most of the other fora
