  1. Gents my TD5 has decided to start leaking diesel from the filter that's ingeniously mounted next to the off side rear wheel. Firstly is this known as a filter or separator ? Secondly after I've changed it (can't bloody get one on a Sunday,) will I need to bleed the fuel system or is it auto priming? Thanks, Mick.
  2. Cheers chaps, Managed to sort it out but had to use a chain saw
  3. Looks good Nige, Show us some weld porn! As above I have a very nice Portamig that has done me proud for a few years and today I picked up a 160 Amp AC / DC Industrial TIG, just got to work out what all the settings do TIG welding Aluminium, how hard can it be?!
  4. Hi all, wonder if you can help. I'm currently locked out of the van back of my 110 (2000 TD5 if it matters). It's my fault as the lock has been playing up for a bit and I did nothing about it for a week or so the door would only open with the key in the barrel & turned hard clockwise but today I just can't open it, the handle moves so it's not locked, I just can't get in. To compound matters my 110 is ply lined with no way between the passenger section and the back (well not unless i take a chainsaw to it). I've tried taking one of the small back windows out but I can't open the door from inside either. Any ideas chaps? Mick.
  5. Hi Nigel, Obviously Bowie69 got there first but I could be interested, could you put up some pictures please? Cheers, Mick.
  6. Hi all, I need to weld some bash plates on to the axles of my CCV truck , never done this before so looking for some pointers please. Am I ok just draining the oil or do I need to take the diff out to prevent damage? Anybody know how thick the tubing is on a RRC axle? Thanks, Mick.
  7. Very true but would you survive if you were hit by one at 30 MPH? I've no idea but wouldn't volunteer to try it out.
  8. With Nige on this one. Sad to say but if you hit a pedestrian with a LR I can't see that the addition of a bull bar is going to make things worse, after all you can't get deader than dead. Defenders are being phased out for this very reason (I.e. Don't comply with current E.U. Legislation ) wonder when they will ban Wagons, Transits etc
  9. Sorry to hijack, But what year did swivels change from oil to grease? Cheers, Mick.
  10. Hi all, When I bought my 110 (2000 TD5) it suffered from horrible handling and a serious weave if you backed off the throttle or braked hard at anything above 50 MPH. Since then I've changed the suspension to Gwyn's challenge kit with OME springs / dampers all round and also fitted a X-Eng De-Flex ARB (probably wasn't necessary but hey ho) Handling on and off road is massively improved (yes it was worth the cash) but I still get a bit of a shimmy when braking or backing off after being flat out on a motorway, even though they look ok would I be correct in assuming that Radius Arm Bushes are the likely issue? (Radius arms are standard as they aren't in Gwyn's kit) If radius arm bushes are suspected am I better sticking with original as I have trashed Polybush ones in the past (yes they were greased before fitting) Thanks, Mick.
  11. Up to you if you want to pursue a warranty claim but my TD5 does that to. As you say after 10 mins or so it disappears, doesn't worry me.
  12. ^^^^ as above, I'd buy an actuator kit if it failed locked and was air driven.
  13. Jesus H! How much does a Disco weigh? Bet they lit up well at night!
  14. Sorry chaps, old age setting in. Not sure what year the Disco was but I'm looking for a diagram for a 3.9, only need the engine / ECU.
  15. Hi, Just wondering if anybody has any experience of these: http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/cat62-air-punch-and-flange-tool/path/air-saws-screwdrivers Thanks, Mick.
  16. Hi all, Can anybody point me in the right direction for a V8 wiring diagram please? Thanks, Mick.
  17. Thanks Ralph, Calipers on the back axle have twin brake pipes, that coupled with what you are saying would Disco make sence? Cheers, Mick.
  18. Hi all, Looking to re-route the exhaust on my CCV truck (never used on the road) Question is how close would you risk running an exhaust to an alloy petrol tank? Cheers, Mick.
  19. Hi all, I guess this is a part number in reverse kind of question. My CCV truck has a Lucas brake servo with the following numbers: NTC-4990 276049069. Can anybody tell me what flavour of LR it was taken off please? If it helps the master cylinder attached to it has four ports. Thanks, Mick.
  20. Ehm, this is a joke right? Are you fitting a nuclear reactor or a V8? Why do you need bigger wheels to go with your huge engine? If you are intending on invading a country let us know which one and we may be able to help.
  21. No problem, Answering questions is what the forum is for. I ask most of them!
  22. Ian, In answer to your question regarding plating the chassis 3mm plate will do just fine. When it comes to suspension there are so many variables, if you aren't doing serious off roading or heavy loads / towing and were happy with the way your truck handled then just replace like for like, if you feel the need to upgrade you will have to give the reasons why or search the numerous posts regarding suspension. HTH's Mick.
  23. Pulled some very stuck comp trucks out with my winch & bumper using standard mountings, haven't ripped anything off yet...
