  1. Forgive my ignorance Gents; I have a very broken RRC with a recent 3" suspension lift kit on it, just wondering if the suspension would fit my 110" TD5? RRC is currently parked in a mate's field a few miles away so I can't nip out and measure it all up. Cheers, Mick. P.S. RRC also has a "Shadow" winch bumper on it, any chance this will fit or will I need to get the grinder & welder out?
  2. ^^^ As above, If you need a 90 for it's off road acumen lowering it is a BAD idea.
  3. Made a start on mine today and haven't had a problem cutting it. Used an air grinder for the long bits and a pad saw for finishing the corners. Tidy job, happy with it.
  4. Thanks for the help guys. From bottom to top I'll go DIN mounted CB, DIN mounted head unit then Carling switches with crimp connections.
  5. Have just bought one of these, I know I need to cut the existing "dash" to make it fit but once I've done that can anybody tell me if I can get a DIN mounted CB and a stereo in the "vertical" panel and then a row of Carling switches in the "sloping" panel? I don't want to cut holes in it without knowing! Cheers, Mick. P.S. any pics of your would be greatly appreciated.
  6. Thanks Gents. Wondering if TD5 was such a good idea, nah I'm not.
  7. Just thought I'd pass this on... On Sunday night I placed orders with both X-Eng and MUD-UK, Mud delivered Tuesday, X-eng today. Considering the time of year I say that's a superb result by both suppliers! Cheers guys.
  8. Bloody hell that was a quick reply! I'm used to getting my feet wet, just don't like walking home
  9. Gents, With a good snorkel and raised breathers how fit for wading is a standard 110 TD5? My RR had Megasquirt, never had a TD5 or indeed a Diesel before, nervous about taking the plunge without prior information. Cheers, Mick.
  10. Why didn't I think of that?! Cheers Mark.
  11. Hi all, Where do you put a winch battery on a TD5 110? Cheers, Mick.
  12. Hi all, Haven't been on here for ages, nice to see the same people seem to be about. Quick question, I've just bought a 2000 reg 110 TD5 which is in very good nick and would like to keep it that way, what is the best way to stop the chassis getting tin worm? Cheers & all the best, Mick.
  13. I'm well aware of that having just bought one FSH, 80K miles for 700 quid! Only bought it to tow my RR tray back and trailers full of logs, shouldn't imagine it's up to much on the rough stuff but as a comfy work horse you can't go wrong. ?! Mick.
  14. Cheers Gent's, Have you seen how cheap Explorers are in the UK?! Mick.
  15. Hi all, Wondering if anybody can tell me how tough or otherwise Ford 8.8" axles (Explorer etc) are when compared to LR items? Many thanks, Mick.
  16. Thanks Gents, Good wikipedia article there. Mick.
  17. Thanks Gents, Will factor in the cost of a replacement lump when I go shopping, quick question, whats the difference between a 200 & 300 tdi? Cheers, Mick.
  18. Gents, Looking at purchasing a defender for winter use, have seen quite a few ex-mod n/a diesels (90 & 110's) for good money, just wondering how usable a normaly aspirated diesel is for every day road use? (I've only ever driven tdi versions) If they aren't very good can a turo be retro-fitted? Many thanks, Mick.
  19. Thanks Martin, Have insured a classic with them before, wasn't aware they also did 4x4's. How much detail did you have to go in for regarding alterations? Mick.
  20. Hi all, Forgive me if this is a FAQ, I have tried searching but cant find anything. Who are the best people to get a quote from for insuring heavily modified vehicles for on road use? Looking at insuring a comp safari type truck for occasional road use. Many thanks, Mick.
  21. Hi all, I have no experience in competing in this field but fancy a bash on a budget (don't care if I'm not competitive for now) can anybody point me in the right direction regarding truck specifications please? I've tried the AWDC web site but can't seem to find anything. Many thanks, Mick.
  22. ^^^^^^ As above but check the play in your steering box!
