  1. It runs! Even better I dont have clouds of black smoke poring out of the exhaust! Thanks for the help chaps!
  2. Hi Gents, Considering building my 1st competition truck, purely for off road use. Quick question for those that have them, what did you start with as a donor? Doesn't seem right having to spend a couple of grand on a half decent vehicle only then to start chopping it about. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Mick.
  3. Ah... That would have made things easier when I started Thanks John. Any chance that can be posted as a sticky? Might save somebody else the problems I had...
  4. Eh, Didn't realise there was a manual! No wonder I've had so many problems, how bloody daft do I feel now?! Where do I find said manual? I've installed mine just with the posts on this thread...
  5. Cheers Gents, I am indeed usibg what used to go to the dizzy. Would the KPa results I'm getting cause the issues I'm having or am I likley to have another problem? Thank again, Mick.
  6. Ehm, When you say air pressure you do meen vacuum don't you? That's were I have mine connected... Please tell me I haven't connected the hose to the wrong place?! I getting a reading of 96 KPa at idle dropping to around 70 when I increase the revs, it's not the hose as I've just run another and it's just the same... Mick.
  7. Nige, I'm embarassed to say I have no idea how to check what version I'm running, could you give me any info please? Thanks.
  8. Gents, Starting to pull my hair out here! Despite all your help I cant get my truck to run without producing black smoke. Not sure whats going on but I hope the following will enable us to get to the bottom of it: Engine rpm = 700 coolant temp = 137f Lambda 0.31 & 1.2 volts **** engine map = 96kpa manifold air temp = 69f spark advance = 11.5 dbtdc **** I know this value is incorrect, the sensor I fitted is a three wire with red, black & white cores as opposed to a black and 2 whites, could i have the wrong type of sensor? Lambda besides even if i turn the required fuel down to 19 or so it's still running ultra rich! Any ideas gents, getting to the stage where i wish id never bothered thanks for your help, mick.
  9. Gents, Finaly got my self a decent trailer. Trouble is I don't have any where secure to store it so it will have to go in the field. Any ingenious suggestions for preventing pikeys / scum from driving off with it? Best I can think of is removing a couple of wheels from one side and fitting a hitch lock. What do you guys do? Mick.
  10. Hi all, Does anybody recall seeing a link to a tube bending tutorial on here? I'm sure I saw one relating to roll cage fabrication but am buggered if I can find it now! Many thanks, Mick.
  11. Hi all, Due to winches etc I'm having to consider vinyl reg plates, quick question, do they have to be illuminated for the MOT / sherrifs? Cheers, Mick.
  12. "My other Car is a Diesel" Shame on you Sir!
  13. Thanks Nige, I'm "playing" with them because all the fields were blank for some reason, I think I may have corrupted the data by trying to connect using a MS2 project file
  14. Is there a good place to look for 'Mog axles? Tried fleabay but nothing listed. Mick.
  15. Thanks very much Steve, that's one problem sorted. Next problem Gents: I've got a long way since yestrday, have now got all inputs working, a fuel and spark map programed but it's still running very rich. The Lambda gauge is showing 0.32 andI have black soot coming from the exhaust. I think I'm having problems with the "Required Fuel Calculator" I'm using the following settings: Engine displacement = 3500 CC No. of cylinders = 8 Injector flow = 1.2 lb/hr Air-fuel ratio = 14.7 When I try to burn that to the ECU I get the following error message: "Error: Reqfuel1 must be <=25.5, entry is 116.5 (set to 25.5) Any ideas gents? Thanks, Mick.
  16. Can anybody show me a picture of which ccolant temperature probe I should utilise for megasquirt? I'm hoping there is one on a V8's (3.5) block that I can use without loosing the temperature gauge on the dash. Piccies please? Cheers, Mick.
  17. Right Gents, Sorted that one out but I have another problem. I can connect using Tuner Studio but not with MegaTune. I think this is a version issue with the hardware, what project should I be launching? It's a unit I bought from Fridge with edis, when I run portcheck it's identifying it as msns-extra, but I cant see that in the configuration list. Cheers, Mick
  18. Gents, Have made a comm lead to try and establish why my truck is running like poo but cant connect. Lead is a "straight" serial lead using pins 1, 2, 3, 5 & 9. Have tried running "Port Check" but without success. This is on a toughbook with a "real" serial port at comm 1. Any ideas? Thanks, Mick.
  19. Thanks Nige, The file in the CPU is as supplied when I bought the kit of Fridge. Will knock up a serial cable on Monday. Mick.
  20. Hi all, Having a bit of a problem with my set up. My truck is running terribly rich, so much so that your eyes water with the fumes. Now I havent done any tuning yet so is this normal?! If not what could I have got wrong that would make it run like this? Only thing I can think of is Lamba sensor, its a three wire one, I have red connected to the 12v that feeds the fuel pump, black connected to 0v and the white going to the ECU. Is this correct? White core has 12v on it with the engine running?!? Thanks for any help, Mick.
